Keeps from sliding off the seat
My dad with dementia was bed bound because he kept wiggling off the wheel chair seat and it was too dangerous. This belt answered our prayers. He is safe in the wheel chair and can get out of bed again! Tips: A person can slump and slide down the seat and put pressure on private parts where this belt goes between the legs. We help this by putting an additional belt on his upper torso. Also, we put extra padding around the belt that goes between the legs. This well made belt has allowed for an upgrade in quality of life. Bravo!

IT WORKS!
We were having a terrible time keeping my 90 year old father from sliding out of his wheelchair. Well, this harness has solved the problem beautifully. The straps are generously long which is good because he does not bend at the waist well and cannot sit back in the chair to begin with. We had to move the crotch strap well forward, but the straps to attach to the chair were ample for the task. The chest pad is soft and does not cause him any discomfort, but the harness keeps him exactly where he needs to be. Additionally, it is very easy to use. Now that the bottom strap is secure, I only have to pull the harness over him and click the top buckle in the back of the chair, and that is it. Thank you so much for making and selling this item. And to the reviewers having trouble with the straps getting loose, all you have to do is wrap the excess strap into a knot behind the buckle, and it will stay nice and tight.

Keep Mother from sliding down in her wheelchair
This may keep my 98 year old Mother’s from getting out of her wheelchair and falling on the floor. I call her Houdini. The restraining belt and vest did not keep her in her wheelchair. This may keep her from sliding down.

The best solution we have found for sliding out of the wheelchair seat.
Getting it installed took a few tries to find the optimum way to use it. The crotch strap may be too wide for small patients. Watch for abrasion.

Must have for safe wheelchair use.
I love this seatbelt. It's very, very secure. The strap for attachment to the wheelchair is very long, and may need to be trimmed or tucked away. But it is strong and the tensioner holds secure. The buckle is plastic, but is very strong. The seatbelt is comfortable, and well contoured to prevent chafing or binding between the legs. The waist portion is wide and comfortable. The level of padding is just right. Not too much to be bulky, and enough to be comfortable for all day use. The unpadded portion of the strap to secure the belt around the user is wide, and very long. Again, the excess may need to be trimmed or tucked away to prevent being tangled in the chair. The large, sturdy plastic buckle must be secured behind the wheelchair user, so the user must either have a caregiver to apply it or remove it, or have good dexterity and strength to do it themselves. The only real downside to this restraint is the lack of adjustment in the center area--the rise. Since it's not adjustable, skinny users may find the belt rising too high on their abdomen, while heavier users may find the belt sitting too low on their hips. In the latter case, the wheelchair securing strap can be loosened to allow extra rise, at the expense of letting the belt move side to side more easily until the user's weight is applied to it. While this seatbelt is considered a restraint as far as most care facilities are concerned, it is incredibly helpful for those who are subject to balance issues, spasms, or falls, or for users who try to leave their chairs without adequate assistance, which can be dangerous.

A little hard to get right but works great
Needed something to keep family member from sliding down so we could go for walks outside. Not easy to get situated if person in chair isn’t able to help move themselves around but it works well. Even the facility staff was amazed.

Looks ok
I bought this for my mother who started sliding down on her wheelchair. However, I don't think I ever used it on her. Can't remember the reason.
