Factory defect - exposed wiring
I like the design & operation of this charger, but their manufacturing process clearly has some flaws. When I purchased my second of these chargers in Oct 2019 (when the first one was stolen from my driveway), it arrived with the casing of the outlet plug not attached to the casing of the cable leading into it -- so the individual wires were exposed, and the opening in the plug casing where the wires come through was left open to the weather, as shown in the accompanying photo. For a charger that spends all its time outdoors in the weather, this is obviously a bad thing. I would have returned it immediately, except that I was desperate for a home charger at that point... so I did my best to make it weather-safe. I found a plastic flange at a hardware store that fit snugly around the cable, and super-glued it to both the cable casing and the outlet plug casing, to try to seal off that whole area against moisture. Sadly, this didn't last in the long run -- and enough moisture eventually got in that the charger began failing with "Short Circuit" error messages on its display. Unfortunately, I'm past the 1-year warranty date on this device now, so I'm probably just stuck with it.To try to get the charger back on its feet temporarily, I'll be doing some home surgery on the plug casing to dry everything out now, then I'll try to seal the area with duct tape as another temporary measure, while I shop for a different brand of charger. It's a shame, because this model of charger otherwise seems like a winner... but believe me, a flaw like this right out of the box should be treated as a deal-breaker.

Not compatible with Chevy Volt
A 2017 Chevy Volt would not accept charge from this charger. Had to return for refund.
