A good stroller that could be a little better
I recently purchased the Zooper Tango Escape in Ruby Storm. I am currently using this stroller for my 7 month old and 3.5 year old with the intention to mostly use it for our new baby coming the fall and the middle child.Pros:-Nice appearance. The black and white is simple and the fabric seems durable. The print on the fabric is very subtle and not used everywhere. Looks classy overall.-The large canopies. This is probably my favorite feature. I live in Seattle where it is cold most of the year and its nice to be able to completely shield my baby* from the elements. We will also be taking it to Disneyland next month where I plan on laying the baby down and completely shading him from the sun for naps with the large canopy.-Handlebar has a nice grip material.-Easy to turn indoors*-Large storage area. My diaper bag fit just fine contrary to other reviews. It was a little difficult to get out but my other stroller didn't fit it at all so its an upgrade to me!-The ability to have the seats doing opposite positions. Great to have one kid laying back and other sitting up.-Adjustable leg rest for baby.-Easy to assemble upon first opening from the box.-Fit my combi shuttle carseat (Although I also talk about this in the cons...)-Arm bars are easy to open and close-Bassinet ability for newborns.-Peak-a-boo window in the back of canopy to see baby when closed.-2 large velcro-closed storage sacks on the back of canopy. Easily can fit a wallet, water bottle, keys, phone.-The lock on the wheels is very durable. Its not that easy to lock quickly but once it is, it seems very safe. Unlike our jeep jogger that seems like the wind could just unhinge the lock bar.-Stands up when closed and not in use.Cons:-Safety buckles are not long enough. We can SQUEEZE our 3.5 yr old into the buckles but its too uncomfortable for her to ride around like that all day. They need to be longer!-The seats in general are too small for our 3.5 year old. She is 40" and 35lbs. And she barely fits in the stroller at all. We won't need it for her besides our planned trip to Disneyland so I'm not too concerned personally. But I can't recommend this stroller to someone who will use it frequently with an older toddler. Her head its the canopy when closed, goes over the height of the seat so she can't recline (her head would dangle back) and he legs are so long she can put her feet on the front wheels. The large canopy is nice for baby but pretty useless for a toddler who has to kink her neck to make it work.-A little difficult to turn and maneuver around uneven ground. Im referring to my neighborhood with turns, hills and slopes. It would be impossible to take on dirt or rocky areas. This is nothing like a jogger with tires. This is more for city/indoor use.-Sometimes difficult for the metal safety latch to actually latch. This is what keeps the stroller from collapsing. When I open the stroller to use, I really have to use all my force to get the piece to latch. Once it is latched, it has stayed latched for me.-In the photos the seats have a side panel of fabric that sits nicely against the outside, but mine doesn't do that. The fabric lays back against the back rest. I wish these flaps had a piece of velcro or a snap to keep attached to sides.-There is a bar that goes right down the middle of the storage basket. Not sure this can be avoided for safety measures but it does make it more like two separate storage bins instead of one large one.-The cup holder sticks way out to the sides and hits doorways. Im sure we will break it at some point.-The carseat fits but has a dinky strap to hold it in. I would be nervous to take down any slopes with the carseat in. Maybe good for quick trips to the store.-Good luck trying to get ahold of anyone at the company. They currently have one customer service rep. He's nice but he's spread thin. It took a week and a few emails via Facebook to hear back from him.-The wheel lock isn't an easy "step on bar" to lock it situation. You need to come to a stop and use some strength to lock it but it does seem very safe.-The drawstring recline system isn't the best. It's like my old combi stroller and jeep jogger. But it gets the job done.Overall, this stroller does what it needs to do for our family. No stroller is perfect out there and I did A TON of research before purchasing a double. My biggest desire was to keep the baby out of the elements (heat or cold) and this stroller seems to be one of the only ones that have full closure of the canopies. And also to have the ability to have one child fully reclined for a nap while the other sits up (great for my situation-toddler and baby). There is an upgraded version of this stroller called the Tango SMART. According to their customer service rep the big difference is the fabric. There is more fabric used on the SMART and less of the mesh-like fabric used on the ESCAPE. The metal used on the SMART is a more solid (probably more durable) material but it would also be heavier. The last major difference is the recline system- the ESCAPE has a drawstring recline system (slightly annoying to use) and the SMART has a lever to pull the seat back or up (this seems much more desirable). But the difference in strollers is about $100 so you will have to decide if that is worth the money.
