Someone mentioned using this in their vegetable garden. Is it safe? I don't know what this bonding agent is and if it is meant for vegetable gardens.

Yes! I was converted to this in my vegetable gardens since it sticks and doesn’t move around, but is super easy to apply, and each bag goes a long way. I’ve even turned other friends onto it within the last year. Every once in awhile I’ll get a single grass seed, but otherwise virtually weedless. Tractor Supply Co here and Lowe’s have a much better price ($15) for this size, so I stock up when it’s any cheaper, because it does sell out locally in Houston. It’s much lighter and easier to stack and store also. I don’t find it water logs or mold when left in the bag like mulch or soil does. I like this all around.

Can I use this in my vegetable garden?

Absolutely, yes. I've used this for the past five years in my vegetable container gardens. It contains no pesticides or chemicals, only straw and guar gum as the tacking agent. It's the best mulch I've used. I always go back to it when I attempt to try anything else.

Why does it have a prop 65 warning? Does it have lead in it?

I think that's about the bag it comes in. It's made of plastic and most plastics have at least some chemicals that will trigger a prop 65 warning.

Is this straw weed free?

I’ve bought 4 or 5 of these in the past. It’s mostly seed free but I did have one bag that seemed to have a lot of seeds on one side. the other bags had a few here and there but it’s not hard to pull out the sprouts.
