Not for young toddlers
This toy microphone was too difficult for a 2 1/2 year old to manage without significant parental assistance. It takes too much time to study the "coding" of each song to be played so it takes away from the spontaneity of the moment because you have to study each song and input it into the coding system to play a song.

my son like it
my son loves to just talk in the mic.. he's only two and is not advanced enough to press the buttons to get to a certain songs.. i expected it to actually sing but it only plays the tunes.. overall, my son still like it because it's ELMO.

All though my daughter just plays with the microphone I don't even think she realized it came with a book, she loves it.
