Great stick .. Microswitched and steel shaft
Now I know the C64 Mini joystick is bad but not sure what some are reviewing here ?Its a bit clicky at the moment ( that will wear in ) but overall comparing with an original I have here its really goodWorks well with Emulation … Personally i think I got a bargain :)

Disgrace to a legend!
As a self confessed retro gamer I was jumping for joy when I saw that the competition pro had been released as a USB model. As a proud owner of the original and many other joysticks and pads around the golden era of gaming of 1988-94 I ordered this tasty bite of nostalgia immediately for use with my Amiga Winuae emulator. What a ghastly mistake! This joystick may look the part but it is nowhere near the quality of the original. The build design is light and feels tacky unlike the chunky weightiness of the original. I instantly noticed the difference in the button feel, even after 20 odd years, feeling like they were made out of the thinnest, wobbliest plastic the manufacturers could find.Add to this that the left, round button did not work, despite all buttons being set to the same action and the response time of the stick itself to the game was shoddy and slow to say the least. This is a fantastic idea but an truly awful product and a complete disgrace to the legendary status of the original Competition Pro.I re-boxed this thing the day I got it and plan on returning it as soon as possible.Don't be fooled, this is not the Competition Pro, it is a cheap, faulty, nasty copy. You would be better off buying a second hand version of the original and buy a "Retroport" which will allow you to plug old joysticks into your PC to play old games.Utterly offensive.

Quality its not.
Ok the internals of the plastic feel too brittle the main fire buttons can stay pushed down due to plastic burrs and what with the design I don't think they are fixable and the microswitches are very cheap the actual button of the switch can move left and right which can make diagonal a touch awkward the fire buttons are mapped separately so each can do a different function, well what a shame looked the part!Although on playing retro titles (amiga c64) it does the job better than a joypad giving a more authentic retro feel.

Mine is ok so far!
I also purchased this for retro gaming on my PC. It still works fine but to be honest I have not used it very much. I would say it seems to lack quality of the products I used on my A500/A1200 back in the 80's/90's but to be fair they cost much more back then!

Just ok
It's not the joystick you remember from the Amiga / ST days. Had to fix the buttons as they were sticking. Good point - the four buttons. Bad points - quality of the components. If you don't mind "fixing it" you'll be ok.

Great for retro games
I bought one of these and it is just as I remember it was for the C64 or ZX Spectrum. Plug it in and away you go, it's that simple (and basic) yet who needs more for playing retro games. Personally I use it with MAME to play those old classic arcade games like R-Type, Space Harrier, Golden Ax, . . . .

Abysmal Quality
The seller makes out this is an original Competition Pro (even puts a nice red ribbon around it) that's where the "quality" ends. Right button was very stick as per a number of other reviews but after 10 ins of playing SuperFrog when moving the joystick right it stopped responding. No way on this planet is this an original!! I'd say you get what you pay for but this isn't worth 10p!!

Great new old stock competition pro 5000
This is new old stock not bad and it's sealed joystick by the original manufacturer the parent company of Kempston. I know this one has issues over the speedlink version like micro switches. New switches can be bought for next to nothing off ebay.
