Personal Experience: My husband who is deceased now had his leg amputated after years on antibiotics. The last round almost killed him but the infection won and he lost his leg. After that we thought our lives would return to normal once he got his prosthesis. However he had 2 yrs of diarrhea afterwards with everything tried including: water testing, cold stored prescription probiotics, Cholestiramine powder, colonoscopy, and a vast awray of home remedies and to no avail. My husband could not leave the house having to stay near the toilet or bedside commode. Finally our medical system gave up and labeled him with "idiopathic diarrhea" ...meaning they could not find the cause and gave up. These were OK. I'm not sure how effective they were. My bowels moved, but I still struggled so I wouldn't buy him again.

I take this daily to help maintain good digestion. It is a great value and you can't beat a great name brand.One tip I have for anyone starting to take probiotics:I started taking this every morning and was experiencing bloating and discomfort throughout the day. New users can sometimes experience this as their body gets used to taking probiotics. To combat this issue I switched to taking it before bed and have had no issues since then.I have had less digestive upset since taking these pills and feel great!

Culturelle is the brand my doctor recommended to protect against yeast infections that many women experience. This is a well-respected brand of probiotics, with the specific bacteria that prevent against candida overgrowth effectively, the lactobacillus variety. They are also definitely good for digestive care, though there are different types of Culturelle probiotics specifically for digestive care, and then there are those specifically for female care. I think, as it is an excellent brand, and the probiotics generally work in the same way, any of these types of Culturelle will be effective for the usage you need it for. I found it very helpful, and it has prevented me from suffering unnecessary trips to the doctor's office and the usage of prescription medications that are essentially ineffective anyway, in the long run. I highly recommend this product. I also recommend that you store it in your refrigerator, where probiotics have the most longetivity. They do not store as well at room temperature, as you have to remember the bacteria need to stay alive. The price on Amazon for Culturelle beats out the price of any stores I have walked into and looked for it at, and this is a really great deal.
