Lovely Book
I purchased this for my (nearly) four year old, in hopes that we can use it in the future. She is too young to understand some of the concepts in the book (ie, she doesn't really answer the phone, or decide who she is inviting over for playtime). It touches on some great concepts that will be useful in the future. Although we have already started teaching her how to use her "please" and "thank you's", and are consistent with our reminders, it is a great book for little girls! Glad there were so many helpful reviews, and glad that I got it!

Excellent as a gift for a Young Lady. )
We love it. Bought it as a gift for My 10 y.o. Daughter. We are reading all together with 15 y.o. too. Very sweet and interesting, we have a pleasant time discussing and remembering examples from our own life. )👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

My Daughter's Review
My daughter composed the following:"A Little Book of Manners" is a wonderful book for girls by Emilie Barnes. The age range is probably about 6-12. This book has delightful illustrations and covers many different topics: meeting, telephone, visiting, mealtime, party, and thankfulness. Readers will learn what to do if they make a mistake, how to write a good thank-you note, how to be a good guest, how to meet people politely, what to do if you call a wrong number on the telephone, and much more. Full of fun and useful information, Emilie Barnes pretends to be a girl in the book, and stresses the fact that good manners is a way to show love, or "Love has manners", and the purpose of it. Most importantly, it is a Christian book with a mealtime prayer and has the Golden Rule, but I would much prefer more Scripture. It's a wonderfully enjoyable book and my favorite book in this series.Other Emilie Barnes books for girls include "My Best Friends and Me", "Let's Have a Tea Party", "Come to my Party", "Making My Room Special", "A Little Book of Manners for Boys", "Cooking Up Fun in the Kitchen", and a few more. I highly recommend this and most of her other books.

Not for toddlers
I bought this for my 5 yr. old Grandaughter along with Thank You cards that she could send after Christmas. This is for Young Ladies, as the title says, book & my mistake because she could never read it. There's a ton of writing on each page & tells you how to act in different situations, how to set the table etc. Really good stuff but her mother will have to read little bits & pieces then re enforce each lesson. All in all alot of great information.

wonderful for little girls
The book is written as if a young girl was talking to you. It will keep girls interested while learning a lot of important things. I am using it to teach a class on table manners to a group of girls 8-11. There is a lot of other great information that I won't have time for this time but I will use later. The illustrations are wonderful.

Somewhat helpful, but not what I hoped for
This is a good starter book, but I found it to be incomplete. It covers social settings fairly well -- how to answer the phone, how to give a party -- but it doesn't cover the most important aspect, manners among your family and in your home. For instance, it has nothing about borrowing items, or common household courtesies such as replacing the toilet paper when you use the last of it! Children get so tired of hearing such things they tend to tune us out, and a good "outside authority" can help get the message through, Unfortunately, this book has limited use as my :"outside authority".

Thorough and kid friendly.
I've just casually glanced through this book so far but from what I've read, I am so excited to start going through it with my two girls! Practical, easy to read and it covers all areas of manners from greeting a friend to what to say when leaving someone's house...this covers it all!!

Wonderful!
Very happy with the purchase I bought boys version too. Definitely recommended. Basic manners are explained so well and presented in a story setting. Kids love reading it!
