very helpful
I just started knitting and got four different books with different projects in them. This one is my favorite! It has very good, easy-to-understand directions with good pictures to help you see what the different stitches should look like. Also, it has a good assortment of projects starting with the easy ones and gradually teaching you additional skills with each project to help you become a competent knitter. Definitely a good one to get for a beginner.

I love it
After reviewing several books as a returning knitter this book fit all requirements. The broad project list, diagrams, explanations, photos immediately improved my knitting. My knitting instructor and I have selected several projects to complete in sequence with increased experience and time needed to complete project. Carry this book with me at all times and do own others but this will always be my "go to" book. Pricing, shipping and communication all made it a wonderful experience and my love for knitting.

Good for beginners
As a beginning knitter I found this book to be very instructional. It is easy to understand the instructions and the patterns are explained well.

Valuable for the ‘How-to-Knit’ Instructions
The instructional portion of this book is very good, and I like that it also showcases many different types of stitches. I’m less interested in the patterns but I plan on trying at least a few.

Such a great book for beginning knitters
This book inspired me to learn how to knit various things, including my first sweater! All of the projects are simple, well photographer, and well explained. It's a great starting point for beginning knitters and a great archive of simple favorites for veteran knitters.

A nice beginner's workshop...
...but all the skills taught here are as well-covered, or more so, in free internet sites like knittinghelp.com. Likewise, equivalent patterns are available for free from the websites of yarn companies. Knight provides sample schematics for the two sweaters in the book, but they're in the instructional section at the beginning, rather than with the sweaters themselves, and don't include all the sizes. That seems like a shame, since fit has so much to do with whether a beginning knitter is happy with the results and continues to knit. There's no index, and the table of contents isn't detailed enough to compensate; to find a particular stitch or technique, the reader has to flip through the first sixty pages. The photos are handsome, however, and are likely to whet the appetite of a beginning knitter. This would make a good gift for an adult who wants to learn to knit; so much classier than Knitting for Dummies!

I Keep it at my Finger Tips
This is a great book for beginners and experienced knitters alike. The instructions are very clear and the techniques are modeled very well. There is a project for everyone in this book and it makes a great reference tool for other projects.
