Alanis Morissette: Jagged Little Pill, Live

Absolutely amazing concert & footage documenting Alanis Morissette's sky-rocketing fame. The footage starts with Alanis, & her band, playing gigs in small venues, almost bar or pub looking places to start promotion for the release of her album JAGGED LITTLE PILL that was released on June 13th, 1995. The footage then cuts to a huge stadium filled, sold out, jam packed, & packed with screaming & adoring fans! Throughout the video, it cuts to different venues, & also documents Alanis' adventures that she & the band endure on the grueling 18 month long tour to support the album. During the making of this Video/DVD, Alanis exploded into the biggest musician on the planet with a string of radio & video hits that include YOU OUGHTA KNOW, HAND IN MY POCKET, IRONIC, YOU LEARN, HEAD OVER FEET, & ALL I REALLY WANT. 1995-1996 was Alanis Mania & this DVD captures that, definitely. All your other favorites from the album are featured live here as well; PERFECT, RIGHT THROUGH YOU, FORGIVEN, MARY JANE, NOT THE DOCTOR, WAKE UP, & that special hidden track at the end of the album, YOUR HOUSE. This is a must have for your collection if you are an Alanis Morissette fan like me. I spent many a night partying to this video back in the 90s. It is a collage of various concert performances from her first album, most people's favorite. Another thing to know, if you have not seen Alanis live, is that she majorly changes up her songs, so in some cases they sounded drastically different from the album. I was a bit taken back by this the first time I saw her, but came to appreciate her creative freedom once i knew what to expect. This video is not just about the music, but the characters just as well. By the end, you feel like you know them all, which makes watching it feel more like hanging out with good buddies, than simply watching a film. I hope you can enjoy as much as I did. This is a classic in my collection of favorites!

i rented this from Netflix and now I can't wait to own it. I think it's a excellent music DVD, very enjoyable to watch. I like how the clips on her change from differnt performances, where some of you didn"t care for it. Either way, I think it is excellent.

muito interessante essa mistura de imagens de backstage com câmera amadora, com toque profissional... muito bacana, o início dá até um "baque", pois a primeira música começa com som monaural e depois de uns 45 segundos, vem a pancada com som 5.1 !!!!! simplesmente doido

I owned this on VHS and well I just didn't see why I shouldn't own it on DVD since well I dont' have a VCR anymore. She's great as always and I Love watching her perform. Any Alanis fan should have this for sure. IF you never got to see her JLP tours, here's the palce to see it.

Gift

This DVD is lost some where between home video and bootleg. It is too choppy to enjoy, constant changing from one concert location to another, several times during each song. There is entirely too much going on at any singular moment. In addition most of the sound track is of amateur quality. I actual got a headache trying to watch it. Jagged Little Pill is an insult to Alanis fans. You would think a star of her caliber would not allow such garbage to carry her name. As a fan I am deeply disappointed and feel I have been played a fool.

This gal is in charge. What a great songwriter.

Amazing story and progress of this era of misic

コンサートショットとオフショットが交互に出てきて、なんとなく落ち着かない編集です。アラニスは大好きなんですけど、コンサートの躍動感を期待してたらちょっと肩透かし。初期のライブステージとしては、Saturday Night Live のボックスセットに収録されていた、「Hand In My Poket」以上のものは見当たりませんでした。 ちなみに、リージョン１ですので、ご注意を。

Wie gewünscht

Before I purchased this DVD, I read a few reviews..most of which said it was great, apart from the fact that it jumps from gig to gig mid-song which is off-putting. Most people disliked this way of editing. Personally, I (and my partner) loved it! I have a copy of the well known New Orleans gig on the Jagged Little Pill tour (which is superb), but lots of people tend to expect that kind of performance from every gig..which is unrealistic in my opinion. We loved the fact that you could see Alanis playing to 10,000 people in one clip, and then go to see her playing at a festival, and then another indoor gig somewhere, and then outside again etc. It was lovely to see Alanis in lots of different settings. I would most definitely recommend this to any Alanis fan!

Schade, schade. Da habe ich mich von Preis, und den schlechten Kritiken doch fast eine Perle unter den Musik-DVDs entgehen lassen. Und damit es anderen nicht ebenso geht, muss ich ihr einiges klarstellen. Dies ist keine „Alanis live in...."- Veröffentlichung, sondern ein Tourmitschnitt. Wer ein Livemitschnitt eines Konzertes erwartet wird sicherlich enttäuscht. Mich dagegen hätte es wohl eher gelangweilt. Denn wer einmal Alanis live erlebt hat, der will mehr. Und dies bietet diese DVD. Sie beginnt mit einem Auftritt in einem Club, hautnah zu Publikum, auf einer winzigen Bühne, und blendet über in Konzerthallenatmosphäre. Diese Schnitte ziehen sich durch den ganzen Film. Ich hatte das Gefühl nicht in einer, sondern in vielen Hallen, auf dieser Tour gewesen zu sein. Und so wie es live nun mal ist, ist jede Location anders. Das Publikum ändert sich, der Sound, das eigentliche Feeling. Und genau diese Unterschiede fängt dieser Film ein. Dabei leiden Ton und Filmqualität mit unter erheblich. Aber wenn ich auf ein Livekonzert gehe, habe ich auch nicht immer Logenplatz mit gekühlten Getränken. Und die Schnitte sind fast ausnahmslos gut plaziert und fein überblendet, und betreffen vielleicht ein Viertel des Materials. So erlebt man ein Song bruchhaft in mehreren Facetten. Dazu kommen kleine Interviewsequenzen, Unplugged- Darbietungen, und ein wenig Backstageatmophere. Einziger Kritikpunkt ist der doch recht hohe Preis, für eine fünf Jahre alte Produktion. Aber Alanis live in Frankfurt 2002 kostete mich die Eintrittskarte schon 50 €. Und dafür habe ich „nur" ein Minimum von dem gesehen was das Video bietet.
