DM6035J-AA Western Basket Weave Jr. Chiminea with Cast Aluminum, Spark Guard Screen

So far I am really liking this chiminea. This model is made out of CAST ALUMINUM, so do not be fooled by cheaper manufacturer's items or even cast iron from the same manufacturer. This will not rust or corrode like cast iron will. It will also be not as likely to "pop" or rupture from high heat or split due to environmental stresses (heated up, then an unexpected rain comes ...... etc.) like the clay ones do. I expect the hardware around the door to be the "Achilles Heel" of this chiminea; the hinges and the little latch are undoubtedly cheap steel, and will eventually rust and probably break off. I figured it would still be highly functional even without the door, when that day comes and the flimsy hardware does break off. The biggest negative to me is this thing takes very small pieces of wood. 10"-12" pieces of wood can be put thru the door. If you plan ahead and take out the internal grill and the top spark arrestor before they get hot, then you can feed longer pieces of wood down thru the chimney itself. Be forewarned that when you do this, flames may shoot up thru the chimney - kinda cool, but make sure you have lots of clearance outdoors AND that the surrounding environment is moist enough to prevent sparks from causing a fire!! Just big enough for a small patio fire, and the smoke goes up the chimney and not in your face!

The media could not be loaded.  Good product so far. The instructions need work. No mention of the handles. The clearance statement is stated wrong it says “inflammables” not flammables. The weld on the screen door is pretty lousy. It will probably break. Overall 4 stars though.

I think that the rating reflects more a disappointment with the manufacturer than with Amazon's services. I received the Chiminea promptly from Amazon. I began assembling it, which was very easy to assemble. However, after I had put it together it was missing a part. I called Amazon and the person I spoke to was very friendly and helpful. The problem was that I had to return the whole product and get a new one. The small grate that was missing could not be sent separately. So I took the chiminea apart and reboxed it. Again, my replacement came promptly. Here's the 3 rating, the same small grate was still missing from this one also. If the company felt that this part was not necessary, then they need to update their instructions for assembly. It would have saved me a lot of extra time and work!

To small will not fit a standard length log. It gets a white residue all over the outside

Nice item but poorly packaged. Decided to repair myself and keep anyhow.

I bought this back in october 2012 when it was $250.Now Its an even better deal at $207.(I saved 30 bucks by applying for the amazon card).It works well for the cool spring nights.I put it on the patio this past memorial day weekend, 2013.It does wonders for pleasant conversation.I have no negatives about this item.The radiant heat can "reach out" to 6-8 feetcomfortably.Duraflame logs look nice with the "consistent flame"if you just want to flame-gaze, but real wood burnsbest (especially if you want heat).The aluminum is alot nicer than the cast iron modelsand ultra-light weight too.I put 3 chunky logs in and removed the top cap.The flames shoot out the top like a blow torch(which is safe) and nice for "well-done" marsh mellows.Overall, this is safe and adds fun to any size gathering.have fun.Ps...start your wood up with a propane torch (so easy).

I love this thing. My neighbors all have terracotta chimineas and they always, always crack. This thing is solid and has not cracked or even so much as been stressed or fatigued. So long as you burn good wood and keep the fire hot, all smoke goes up the chimney. The other great thing about this is the amount of heat it gives off to the surrounding areas. My friends and I like to burn year round, and in the winter time we sometimes have to move back from the chiminea because the heat is amazing. Great product.

Shipping was fast and assembly took less than an hour. I did it solo - coming from a semi-handy 26yo female. It puts out a fair amount of heat when in close proximity and it's pretty easy to get flames shooting out the top. Love that the chiminea came with a cover. The latch and hinge for the front seems a bit flimsy but it does stay in place. The top grate for the grill was cracked upon arrival but it can still be used if I want to remove the flue. Now I'm seeing better prices ($100 less) at the local home improvement stores for larger steel or clay chimineas but overall I'm happy with my purchase as long as it holds up.
