Great forgotten Werewolf flick!
Bad Moon, released in 1996, is a mostly forgotten werewolf film. I knew of the film, but had never seen it before and I'm always willing to give horror films a shot especially when they are released by Shout Factory's Scream Factory label.Bad Moon opens with a sequence in South America where Ted (Michael Paré) is the only survivor of a brutal werewolf attack that. The film then jumps to Ted's sister (Mariel Hemingway) and her son Brett (Mason Gamble) who invite Ted to come and stay with them for a while until he can get back on his feet as he has fallen on hard times. What they don't know is that Ted becomes a werewolf every night, but the family dog, Thor catches on immediately. This relatively short film (79 minutes) really moves fast and features some great, brutal werewolf attacks. The finale with Thor vs. werewolf is awesome! The relatively small cast all do a good job, the only character out of place is the flopsy character who has a couple scenes. All in all I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this film, and it definitely deserves to be widely known. My only issue would be that I wish it had been maybe 15 minutes or so longer.Picture and audio are Excellent on this release. Scream Factory have created a number of new special features and also included the Theatrical and Director's Cut of the film. The DC adds some extra gore but removes most of the CGI werewolf transformation at the end which many said was terribly dated.I would recommend this to horror fans and especially werewolf fans.

aaawoooooooooo
I'm not typically a fan of horror monsters like werewolves, vampires, etc, outside of a few cases (like An American Werewolf in London), but this was surprisingly awesome. Short, sweet, and to the point, this one gets you in and out in just under 80 minutes. The werewolf animatronic looks pretty excellent, but that CG transformation was 🤮 Overall, I really liked this one, though, and Thor, maybe. strike that. He IS the best dog actor in history. He's also the best boy.

In the top 3 werewolf movies
This is one of my favorite werewolf movies, and was my very first one in theaters. As a child my father loved werewolf movies and I followed in his footsteps in that way. We went to go see it when I was a kid and just loved it, the transformation is a little weak but let's face it it wasn't big budget in the mid 90's so I can over look that. It is only 78 mins long but it works perfectly for this film. It's very straight forward and to the point giving you just enough character and story development for you to know what's going on and care and then gives the proper amount of gore. Michael pare is amazing as the villain, actually makes you believe he is torn between being a good man, brother, and uncle and having this deadly dark evil secret that slowly breaks loose. I really liked the werewolf which was done by Steve Johnson (species 1&2, dead heat, the howling 2,4, &5, and blade 2) it was a cool design. Over all it is deff a movie I watch often and even put it on for my wife who actually enjoyed it. If you like or love werewolf movies then you should see if not own this gem.

Tree Hugging Werewolf
This movie right here is one of the overlooked gems of the often forgettable 1990's so called "horror" genre. A very quick film (under 80 minutes!) that doesn't bloat itself with too much back story and keeps the action pretty much centered on Ted (the werewolf) and Thor (the protective German Shepherd)focusing on their standoff (which is well shot, save for the obviously "stuffed" Thor for some over the shoulder thrashing). Really well acted (Michael Pare as Ted really stands out)and the idea of having a werewolf film that is about 70% based on a dog's point of view is quite original. Some terrific creature design and gore help with the intensity. The actual transformation scene seems a little dated but this movie wasn't exactly big budget fare and besides any horror fan should know that most of the really good flicks come from genuine heart in the production, not deep pockets. All in all this is one of my favorite werewolf movies, it's short, sweet, and to the point. It probably doesn't hurt that I've owned two German Shepherds in my lifetime either. If you like horror or werewolf movies check this one out."All of a sudden you've got a 200 lb. wolf at the door."

Good
I like bad moon, glad I was able to still find it. Just gotta tune out the part where his sister finds out where he goes to hang out with his other half. The transformation there is disappointing, so just tune that part out.
