The rubber grips that hold each side of the phone crack and break off. Only had it 3 months.

I would get a different holder if I had it to do over. THis one is a bit tight for my phone, and since phones are not getting any smaller, it just will not be needed at some point. I think I will try one of the ones that has the camera mount and other mount for the phone, it seems that it would work better. But, we shall see. It is a good product for what it is, but it should open wider for the new larger phones. (to be fare, I did get the smallest android phone offered)

The phone grabber part sticks out more than other brands and wasn't as stiff, which made it a tad more difficult to get the phone in and out of the holder, as I usually try to do this with one hand.

Best 17mm ball universal phone holder I've used. Holds nice and firm. I originally had a Ram mount X-Grip on the Pro-Clip mounting base in my car, but got tired of it taking two hands, and always hitting the volume buttons. So I swapped for the AMPs plate mount version of this and never went back.To make it a breeze to stick my phone in it one handed, I wrap a strip of double sided Velcro cable wrap over the metal bars trimmed to width so it holds it open just narrower than my phone's width.I recently upgraded the iottie mount in my girlfriend's car with this holder (same size ball) and she says it's way easier to use and holds her otter box defender cased iPhone way better than the iottie did.This is the same size ball as many of the Garmin mounts, and also the ChargerCity EasyBlade 17mm Ball Connection Car CD Slot Mount, which is what I often use when traveling in a rental car.

I already have a Garmin beanbag holder/mount, designed for my Garmin GPS + adapter. This inexpensive, effective device snaps right onto the Garmin beanbag mounting "ball" and holds my Moto E4 cellphone, in a thin case, 100% securely. I did not need to go out and buy another full mounting unit because this "half" was all I needed. And I imagine there are lots of folks out there with Garmin mounts that only need this as a lot of us are switching over from Garmin/dedicated GPS units to cellphone GPS. (Speaking of which, TomTom GO is the best all around phone GPS that I've found. It's not free, but at around $25/year, it's the best thing going. I use it on my motorcycle and my car. We've all got cell phones; might as well get the most out of them that we can. And now I don't have to deal with another device when this cell phone + cell phone GPS combo does the trick.)

This is a perfect mount for large phones like the iPhone 6S Plus. The grip is firm, but not too difficult or stiff to open. Many other mounts use a clicky racheting gear system with a button that "pops" the mount open. I've found over the years that these types of mounts eventually breakdown, since the soft plastic gears always wear down and start slipping. This mount doesn't have multiple moving parts. There is an internal spring that provides clamping force. This much simpler design is much more secure and long lasting.The mount clamps securely and provides even pressure that keeps the phone from rattling. The gripping arms are made of a firm, but soft rubber or silicone compound that is non-marring. All in all a very high quality mount.

I am very pleased that I'm able to use my Garmin base with this holder. It is a good solution for me. It is a little awkward getting the phone into the holder. Some people said they were able to get it in one-handed, but I haven't been able to do that. Even two-handed, I'm a little nervous about the pressure I'm putting on my phone trying to get it in the holder. Maybe I just haven't found the right technique.

Only reason it's not perfect imo is that the holder wore out after almost daily use for more than 2 years, so I bought the replacement part. I've stopped looking around for a better solution, this works just fine for my IP6sp.
