Once again John Fraley did not disappoint. His books about the people who made the history of the wilderness are always great reads! Love them!

An interesting book with many short stories of life in the wilderness. Some are well written and interesting and some are not so much. An account of early settlers in the wilderness from Rangers to homesteaders to run away train wrecks. Good choice for anyone who likes early pioneer history.

I hiked the Bob Marshall as a Boy Scout->did 4 trips of 100 miles each and I love the Bob! This book took me back there! Great read and great book! If you have ever been there or ever wanted to go there->I encourage you to get this book and read it! It is a excellent!

The book brings to life a number of stories that, together, paints a picture of the how settlers managed to live off the land and develop it for their heirs. Awesome book written by a great author. Love all his books.

thought it would have more in-depth information... not bad just not what we expected .

HE LOVED IT! He tells me about the stories all the time. It was a hit if you like history told in a tale of old time folk lore. What is really amazing is that some of the people are still alive today.

This was great for listening to on a recent roadtrip. The narrator's voice fit the stories well.
