Never knew I needed until I got it
Yes I can cut bread on any cutting board. But this is a joy. Collects all the crumbs in the the grooves and makes cleanup fast and easy. Beautiful to look at and it’s also reversible for other cutting needs. A good add to my wooden board every day collection. A definite buy recommended.

Attractive but cut long
Very attractive piece of wood. However, like most such bread boards and bread slicing boxes, it must have been made by people that don't slice bread! Bread is sliced across (parallel to) the short side (duh)! Why don't they make a board with the grooves running parallel to the short sides of the board? You can't slice bread using the grooves on this board without your bread loaf hanging off one side. Otherwise, the board is fine.

Simple and elegant
I use this as a bread cutting board. It's new, so I'm not sure about the durability (hence the 3 stars), but it's very lovely and well designed. Easy to clean out the bread crumbs. The size is exactly right.

Sensible and attractive
I had a two piece crumb catching bread board before. It was so clunky and hard to clean. This is a thing of beauty, slender but sturdy, and crumbs in the troughs can get brushed away. Really helps when you have a slob in the house.

Just what I was looking for.
Functional, lightweight cutting board that captures the bread crumbs and seeds when cutting slices of my sourdough loaf. Keeps my kitchen counter clean.

Too thin
This was pretty but way too thin and light. It slides around when you try to slice a loaf of bread.

Beautiful and does catch crumbs
I wanted a cutting board dedicated to cutting bread (I bake a lot of bread). I first tried a model with a crumb catcher, but it was flimsy and also not nearly as attractive as this one. I was skeptical of this since it just has indentations and they open to one side, but the photos looked so ncie I decided to order it and see. I can say it really does catch the crumbs. There is nothing that I can do about the few scattered crumbs that projectile off the top of my artisan very crusty boules when I start a cut- those will fly outside of the perimeter of the cutting board, but as far as the crumbs that actually stay in the perimeter of the board, the crumb catcher works well and cleanup actually is probably easier than with a crumb catcher. The wood is beautiful- nicest I personally have seen.I'm not sure about sturdiness... I have only used mine a handful of times, but I will say that my mercer bread knife has cut big scratches into the cutting board each time I use it :( So I think that it is not the hardest wood and this seems to happen each time so it is not related to how crusty the bread is on a given day. Overall, beautiful piece that does actually catch crumbs. I wish it didn;t have to be oiled... have not yet gotten oil or dealt with that, but all told I give this a big thumbs up.
