I ordered one of these wooden chest and it arrived with the side of the lid cracked. I ordered a replacement and it arrived with lid cracked down the middle, hinges loose and a piece of wood along the back was nearly falling off. These chests are mailed in their original thin unpadded packaging boxes which were likely shipped from overseas in crates. This type of packaging dosen't look like it was ever intended to be used as a shipping box for mailing. They are thin and provide almost no protection and the wood used for the chests is DRY and somewhat brittle. All it takes to damage the chest inside is one drop or hit. I suggest if you plan on purchasing this chest make sure you select the option to have it shipped in Amazon packaging, Both boxes had HORRIBLE, half carved, cartoonish looking elephants. It looked like the carpenter was a small child who got bored with it or ran out of time and just stopped. The stain was also very lacking. It was splotchy and uneven and made the elephant carvings almost impossible to discern from the rest of the chest. Again BOTH boxes had these same issues. Anything handmade is going to have variations and I was prepared for that. But the only thing about this chest that looks like the pictures is the shape. That is the one thing that is accurate. This chest is definitely not gift worthy. It's more like something cheap you would find in Five Below. Do not expect quality or craftsmanship or you will be sorely disappointed!I do not recommend these AT ALL!

This is a one of a kind find, and I'm delighted with this gift that will be for my son this Holiday Season! He is a filmmaker that appreciates true human effort within artwork and design, a PERFECT reflection of something different and exciting - like his created films.The box is well packed, and once revealed, I was enchanted with the detail and obvious care that was taken to make something that is handmade - which is rare! Also, the box remains closed as well as easily slides open to fill with hopes and dreams!An excellent gift for the person to elegantly display the polished results whether in the bedroom, office, or living room, and yes, I would buy it again and likely will for another person that is every bit as unique as this keepsake storage box!

The box is very nice and pretty. The only complaint i have is one side was put together a little crooked making the box hard to open. Since there's not a latch to pull up on you have to just pull up on the top and it sticks. It wouldn't bother me if it were mine but i bought it as a gift.

Nicer than I expected. A slight crack in wood on top in the design but does not affect the box itself. Giving these boxes to 3 grandsons for Christmas. I’m know they will have fun keeping their treasures in. Nice and sturdy and roomy. The price was great. I would recommend this item.

I purchased this as a gift for my brother who wanted a unique and finely crafted box to store his coin collection in. When I looked into the origin of this piece I knew immediately that it was exactly what I was looking for. It is hand carved and crafted from mango wood in the markets of Saharanpur, India. I wanted to know everything so I could relay the information to my brother when he opened his gift. I would definitely buy from this seller again.

Beautiful piece. Seemed to be well made for the first week. I put some trinkets on an end table in it so I have only opened it a few times. Certainly not often. But just now I opened it and one of the hinges came loose on one side. Looking now, I see that both sides of one hinge and one side of the other are securely screwed to box. But the last side of one hinge doesn’t look like it was ever attached - it was. BUT instead of with a screw like the others, this one has 3-4 tiny nails trying to hold it together. Completely unacceptable. Will request a return.Update: I didn't get a response from the seller at all. But my husband gerry-rigged the hinge with superglue and some toothpicks. It stays together now where it used to fall apart. I will keep the box.

I bought this for my dad for Christmas. He loves elephants and wooden boxes so it's perfect! He was very happy to receive it and keeps all his old man odds and ends in it.

Seriously more than I expected. Great quality. The box is a very good size. Packaged very carefully and the Elephant carvings are very pretty. My mother loves elephants and she absolutely loved this box.

Box itself is pretty but came in a disgusting state. Full of mould, inside and out. No idea if I'll be able to get enough off to salvage it but seriously no product checking. Avoid!!!
