Must buy
I discovered Chris Glen only a couple of years ago at a MSF concert. For many of us, who are rock fans but can't stand most of what passes as rock music - this book is a godsend. Its an easy read and I've enjoyed it so much that I have read it thrice. His larger than life personality comes shining through..and I hope he puts out a second book.I love the guy and his music. So somewhat biased, but this book is really worth it

Down to earth and fun...
Good rock autobiographies can be spoilt by certain themes - bitching about former colleagues, repeating tales of debauchery which were more fun to participate in than to read about, and generally bigging the author up to be the most sussed person in the band. This one avoids those. Chris Glen likes a drink and a snort, and he's had fall-outs, but he doesn't dwell on these subjects to the point of overkill. He's certainly made the best of the bands he's been in - SAHB, MSG, and IGB '90 - and he's had a good time on the road. He's working constructively with guitar talent Michael Schenker to this day. I bought this mainly for Chris' takes on the Schenker and Gillan bands, but the Alex Harvey chapters are fascinating too. Makes you want to go and buy Next! The book concentrates on music first, but is written with a lot of humour. If that's what you want from a rock autobiog., this one will do the business. MSG at Bristol Colston Hall in late '82 gave one of the best gigs I've seen, and it's great to have some insight into what made that band so much fun. PS The extra chapters, pinpointing some specific parts of music-making, work well.

A bit lightweight but enjoyable
I came to this as a major SAHB fan (not the 2000s version though) and reader of many rock biogs. It's a fun ramble through Chris' career and very enjoyable - I pretty much read it in one afternoon - comes across as honest and down to earth. Rock stars having fun and being ripped off, who would have thought it eh? There is a fair bit about SAHB but not as much as I would have liked, he seems to skip through those years and albums very quickly but seeing as Glenn and Kielty were both involved with Kielty's SAHB book maybe most of it went in there and there wasn't much unsaid? There is some shared material between the two books. Totally agree with Chris on one particular thing - why did you screw with the classic riffs and turn them into heavy metal during the reunion years Zal?

Enjoyable read while it lasts!
The avid reader will fly through this in no time. Its my read on the loo book, and its great for that.I'm sure Chris could have told us more, the whole reformed band that toured for a few years with Mad Max Maxwell was barely mentioned.Honest and no frills tales about his life on the road, typical Scottish humor throughout , wish it was a bit longer.Rock On Glen Bensonps....Chris, its Faith Healer UFO have been playing for years before coming on stage, not Amos Moses

Almost like meeting in Chris down the pub for a few jars.
This is a great read, full of interesting background stories and details about Chris Glenn's career. It is written in a conversational and honest style which for me adds to the stories he tells. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys music auto/biographies.

Great Bass Player, Okay book.
This was bought on behalf of a friend who is an Alex Harvey nut. Prefer his stint with Schenker myself, and there is no doubt that Chris Glen is a very accomplished bass player. My friend, however, seems not to be over enthralled by this offering, so I'll give it three on his behalf. Can't fault the seller service - excellent.
