Well built, folds up!
This is my second one, first one lasted 8 years, I’m ruff on my equipment. Great measuring board. Floats, I fish mostly out of my kayak, folds up nicely. Highly recommend!!

Worth it!
I bought this as a bday gift for my boyfriend. He loves to fish and I figured this would be nice. I had no idea that it would be as great as it is. He absolutely loves it! The sole fact that it's fold-able and can float makes it worth the money. The width is perfect too because it makes it a whole lot easier to measure the fish. I know it's a bit expensive, but it's worth the investment. It's great if you're fishing from the beach, kayak, boat, pond, etc. I got him the orange one and the numbers are easy to read, so there's no need to color them with the provided marker. It's probably a different story for the other colors though. It's been about 4 months and it's still durable; no issues.

Tougher than it looks
Pleasantly surprised that this fish board is so tough. I really thought the folding part would be it's downfall. Instead, that is it's best feature. The folding really helps with storage on a kayak. I thought it would be a weak point, and I'd be looking for another non folding board soon. That is not the case. It folds, and the clips are really strong. This isn't flimsy cheap plastic. It's sturdy and strong. I've measure several BIG redfish on this thing, and not had a single problem at all. I don't even lock the clips most times. I pull it out, measure, flip it closed with one hand, and stow it in an instant. Super easy to use! Yes, it DOES FLOAT. I dropped it in the water once, not on purpose and it stay afloat. No worries there. The ONLY thing I dislike about this board is having to color the numbers and markings with a marker. So far, they've held up pretty good, and I catch a ton of fish. They fade more when I wash the board at the end of the day, than they seem to during regular use. I really, really wish they would come out with one that was already marked permanently. For the price, this should easily be doable. I almost feel like I've been price gouged with how long it takes to mark these by hand, and how much money they want for this thing. For the lack of markings and waste of my time, in comparison to the very high cost of a plastic board, I have to take away a star. You can't get five stars when it should come marked, and I have to spend an hour carefully marking each spot if you don't want it to look like a 3 yr. old took a crayon to it. I also measure almost every fish I catch, just to help my eye. I can pretty much tell how big a fish is within a 1/2" by eye. The board helps me keep that sharp, and helps me ensure my fish are legal keepers. Overall, it's a good purchase, and it's stronger than I thought it would be, so I'm happy.

Clever Fish Ruler
Although pricey, the Yakgear Fish Stick is a clever and well constructed little ruler. I initially looked into purchasing a "Hawg Trough" b/c it's about half the price of the Yakgear Fish Stick, but found three major problems. The first is the Hawg Trough doesn't float. Since I'm using it on a kayak, my equipment is more prone to going overboard while wresting with fish...or if I should roll my kayak. In addition, I already have too many paddle, stake out pole, rod, plier and lip gripper leashes attached to the accessory rails on my yak and was happy to find equipment that allowed my to skip adding another to the equation.. The second Hawg Trough feature I didn't like was the one piece design. For me on a kayak, this means stowing and securing the ruler behind my seat. This is an inconvenient location when the action is hot and I wanted a ruler that would remain easily accessible. When folded up, the Fish Stick easily stores underneath my seat, then quickly deploys. Ultimately, my preference is to buy a SeaDek fish ruler and run it underneath the gunnels, but is not a feasible option for my latest kayak. The final problem is the Hawg Trough only extends out to 30". Even though I strictly catch and release bull reds, the extended ruler of the Fish Stick comes in handy measuring fish that are significantly above the upper slot limit. Overall, the Yakgear Fish stick appears to be a sturdy ruler that easily folds up, stows and then deploys. I really like the two locking slots that make it more rigid when extended and measuring larger fish. One potential bonus was the inclusion of a magic marker to highlight slot limits on the ruler, but mine was out of ink so I used one that I had laying around the house. A word of caution: if you are fortunate enough to leave near an Academy Sporting Goods that stocks them, you can actually walk-in and pick up a Fish Stick for under 20 dollars. Since my local Academy doesn't stock them, I just ordered it on Amazon.

36" folds down to 12" for mobility
I like this bump board because it folds down from 36 in to 1 ft. The concave surface makes it easier to hold the fish in place while measuring. Measurements are in 1 in half inch and quarter inch increments. The measurement markers are raised so you can highlight them with a permanent marker based on the size limits of the species you are targeting. It's got locking mechanism so you can keep it extended. There are mounting holes so you can permanently mount it somewhere if you want. Can't wait to use it on redfish in the Texas Gulf.
