1000 Things in Nature (1000 Pictures)

No crazy eyes, just LOTS of words to learn.
WOW! What an awesome book. Items are separated by category (like trees or under the sea) and these are listed in the table of contents. There is also an index that allows you to look up specific items (like the rainbow stag beetle or bumblebee poison dart frog). I think kids from pre-school through grade school could like this book. Even though the names are too advanced for my 2 year old - right now he just wants to point at everything and learn what things are called. I looked at a lot of options and this was really the best book I could find for that (he already memorized the other ones we had). SO, I am ok if at age 2 he calls a tit a bird OR a banded snail just a snail OR cypress a Christmas tree. At age 2, I will just be happy if he likes the book and spurs him to learning even more words.BTW - this book does not have any crazy eyes like other Usbourne 1000 Things books - which is a GREAT improvement. I passed up on other titles because I did not like those strange eyes on every animal (but then gave in and bought them because they are very educational).

Granddaughter loved it!
My 5 yr. old granddaughter loves the book. She is quite a little nature hound and recognized a lot of things in the book. I think this book will not outgrow her soon.

Beautiful
Over the last few years, my children collected all the books of this series so I got them this one too. This will be the first "1000 things..." books of my 2 year old. The pictures are beautiful and portray creatures from all natural realms (animal, plant, mineral). Like the others of this series, the pages are full of illustration (not to scale and orderly disposed in raws) labelled with just the name of that thing. I am sure it will be a success with my daughter.

These books are great and I would definitely recommend
These books are great and I would definitely recommend. Bright colourful pictures with he names of animals below. Definitely a good picture book. Further description of the animals is not included obviously so my older two aged 7 and 5 find it a bit frustrating not having more information but it is encouraging their interest in animals and to look into animals further. My 3 year old girl loves the book.
