The Secret Garden

Millions of people know this famous story. Sadly, far fewer are aware that it was a Broadway musical in 1991 with book by legendary writer Marsha Norman and music by Lucy Simon (sister of Carly), and starring Mandy Patinkin and the inimitable Rebecca Luker. The music is not standard Broadway fare of any era--it is decidedly it's own thing. Playing it (and singing it) is not for the feint-hearted, but listen to the tracks on your favorite music streamer and you'll get there. It will then become a joy to have in your music library both for simply playing on the piano and for accompanying singers. (The male/male duet "Lily's Eyes" is truly a gift!).

I'm a HUGE fan of Amazon, and this is really the first time I haven't been happy with a purchase. I was TRYING to buy a copy of the script for "The Secret Garden" by Lucy Norman published by Samuel French Co. Unfortunately when I went to purchasing options hoping I could download the script onto my Kindle, it sent me the easy piano version of the show! My biggest complaint is that I wasn't able to double check or amend my order; it all happened automatically when I clicked on the button for Kindle. So, I haven't opened the book. I already have the piano score for the show, and definitely don't have any use of easy piano music, especially on my Kindle. That's the only reason I'm upset by this transaction, especially after having had such positive experiences in the past. Maybe someone at Amazon can look into why this happened. Did I do something wrong? I can't imagine that I'm the only one with the problem. Thank you for taking the time to read this!

The music is really great; I always like to see more harmony lines, but that's just me.

I bought the wrong item - it is now obvious to me that “The Secret Garden” sheet music is not the same as “Secret Garden” sheet music! Some irritating marketing deception!

Present for my 12 year old granddaughter. She loves it. She is an aspiring singer and saw the play and wanted the music. Great delivery time too.Grandma Kathy

I needed the piano score for "The Secret Garden" ASAP and found it here at a great price. While there are a few minor differences as compared to the licensed score from Samuel French, I was able to utilize it for the preproduction process and was ahead of the game. Thanks!

Along the way, the musical won three Tony Awards, including Best Book of a Musical, written by Marsha Norman.If you loved the novel as a kid, you might consider this book of the Tony-winning musical!

This is the full piano/vocal score, with all the incidental music and what you'd need to play the show.I don't need to mention that this is one of the highlights of the modern musical theater repertoire. :D

The seller sent me a copy of the story book rather than the musical book and lyrics which the picture and product description describe.

The music is not overly challenging, but arranged beautifully. A great book for anyone who loves this musical and wants to play the major songs, but doesn't require advanced, or even intermediate piano skills.

AAAARGH, I didn't read the description well enough, I wanted the score as well. The lyrics are useful only if you have the music to go with them! Really disappointed with this product, I do have the CD, but the whole point of buying it was that I don't learn very well by ear so I needed the score to look at to learn the songs.

Not a single line of music, just pages of lyrics. I must have missed something in the description, was a terrible disappointment. Had to return the item.
