READ !! one MAJOR assembly step was missing in the MANUAL !! Great scooter for travel !
I am 5 ft and 61 yrs old. I bought this for my hubby, who is 5'10 and 240 lbs. He loves it. It works very well for the intended use of being a travel scooter for occasional trips. I did my homework, and was very aware of how the unit assembles and disassembles, and am able to get all the parts in the car. Packaging was good.NOTE**** Manual left out an IMPORTANT instruction step ! Once you have the scooter all assembled , you have to UNLOCK the WHEELS ! Manual diagram shows the Unlock Knob but not HOW to make it unlock. SO on the rear of the scooter is the red lever for FREEWHEEL or DRIVE position. Put the lever UP into the Freewheel position and then go to the front of the scooter. At the base of the tiller on the front is the Unlock knob. PULL it OUT and then turn to unlock the wheels. It is hard to see but the knob is marked Lock and Unlock. This operates easily , is well made as a Travel scooter. This is not meant for heavy duty use, but it does everything it should as expected. The ride is solid and great on good surfaces, it maneuvers reasonably on rough areas, but not recommended for an extended period of time.Scooter is overall easy to use, is whisper quiet and being 4 wheels is very stable., seat is comfortable and has a lot of the features the very expensive scooters have. We are very pleased, and a whole new world of opportunity has opened up with this purchase.

awesome at half the price
We love purchasing on Amazon, because the reviews let us know what will meet our needs and work for us. Here is another case in point. We have looked at locally available mobility scooters, and there are many places to purchase scooters here where we live in South Florida. However, this Drive Medical scooter is half the price of the other major brand, and Drive Medical makes high quality, well-made scooters. The Amazon reviews convinced us to go ahead and buy it. My husband wanted a scooter so he could ride down to the shopping mall, which is about half a mile from our home, and the public library is about a mile away. There are sidewalks the whole way. At the highest speed, he is content. The steering is supposed to be less tight on a 4-wheel scooter versus a 3-wheel, but we wouldn't need more. The seat is very comfortable, and my husband is heavier. The weight limit is 300 lbs. The basket is larger than other scooters that we looked at. The leg room is ample, even though it looks small, it's really great. We kept the red accents, but it comes with a package of blue accents if you prefer that color. We left the garage door open, and the delivery truck put the scooter into the center of the garage. Assembly was easy. The directions and Owner's Manual are very well written and easy to understand. You can download the manual to save it electronically (click on the link "Warranty" above the description on Amazon, and you will get the latest Owner's Manual version.) So I went to Drive Medical online and tried to register the scooter for the warranty. The problem was that there are several numbers on the stickers on the scooter, and I couldn't tell which number was the actual serial number. Clue: the serial number is 12 digits long, it starts with a number, and the second digit is a letter. So, I called Customer Service. The people were very polite and answered right away. They said that I didn't need to worry; that Amazon automatically registered the Drive Medical scooter for us at the time of purchase. I asked them to explain the warranty, and they did. The scooter came partially charged, so my husband was able to take a short drive right away. OK, so then we charged it overnight, and my husband took it for a ride. It's supposed to go at least 9 miles, but it ran out of battery charge at .4 mile (I measured the distance with the car). We tried charging it for another 24 hours, and the same thing happened - it ran out of battery charge at under 1/2 mile. So I called Customer Service, explained what was happening, what the display lights looked like, etc., and they said they would take care of it. Two days later we received a new charging cord. I called Customer Service, and said, I thought we were supposed to be getting a new battery, and they said, just try it. We charged the scooter overnight with the new charger, and it works fine. I highly recommend this mobility scooter. It is easy to take apart and put in the back of our car, I can do it by myself, and I’m 65. It is silent when running. It is very comfortable. Really great. You can't beat this price. The Customer Service is wonderful and responsive.

Reasonably Good Value- Some quality/design issues
We have had this for a week now so this is an initial review to be updated in the future:Positives:- This is a heavy, well-built scooter that allows our grandmother to access shopping centers and long walks for the first time in years.- The arm rests fold up/adjust easily which make it easy to access from the side and support her arms when she is driving.- EASY Controls: One key ignition, one speed dial, and one toggle for forward/reverse. That’s it! You can learn to operate this in minutes.- Transportable: We needed a unit that could fit in our trunk, and this does the trick. It’s not easy to disassemble, but it’s possible.- Stabile. This has pretty good turn radius for a four-wheeler. It easily makes the turn on tight sidewalks. There are actually six wheels, with two small anti-tip wheels on the back. It would be hard to tip over.- Range. This has 8 mile range which was critical for us. Will update if the battery loses that range in the months to come.Negatives:- Heavy. The seat is heavy. The arm rests are heavy, the steering column is heavy, etc... not easy to transport or disassemble because of the weight of each component. It feels like other materials could have been used on certain components to get this much lighter.- We bottomed out on the first sidewalk “pothole.” We had to get off and lift it out. It was a normal Chicago 2-inch dip between shifting concrete sections... so this is really only for very flat roads or indoors.- Quality issues... The wall charger for the battery gets VERY hot while charging, the sign of poor quality components. The seat swivel bar sticks already, and is hard to swivel. These are basic material quality issues that I’m hoping don’t lead to a short product life.- The steering column tilts but doesn’t extend. The seat height adjusts only 1.5 inches up and down, not forward and backward. Unfortunately this means we couldn’t get the ergodynamics right for our grandmother. The column was either the right height but too far away from her body; or the right distance from her body but too low and hugging her legs. We compromised for the best possible position but she is clearly not as comfortable as she’d like to be while driving.I recommend this as a reasonably good value for this price level. It is already making a big difference for use a few times a week. I Will update if it changes in the months/years to come.

Great quality for an amazingly low price.
Hubby has a nuerological disorder that make walking longer distances in loud, bright places difficult. We got it mostly for his medical treatments. The parking lot too far for him to walk to the central entrance.
