Inside the Red Tent (Popular Insights)

I first began reading this novel when it was lent to me, by one of my dear Church Sisters. After the first two chapters, I realized I needed to buy my own, as I was not able to get into it at that time. It was a while before I got back to reading it again, during a long flight; and I could not put it down after that. I bought two more as gifts for my daughters; and I have recommended it to other women in my life. It has led me to want to read more about the women of the Bible, both Old and New Testament. It has even led me to recommend the study of the women of the Bible to the women of my church. It is an excellent read. I hope Diamante will write more books, like this, about women of the Bible. I look forward to reading more of those works by her. Since reading this book I have read other books that are written like this, by other authors; religious stories, based on facts. I make sure that their references show that they have done much research, (including from Hebrew professors), and that their stories are based on as many facts, from the Bible, as possible. I highly recommend this book. Mom-Bev.

"The Red Tent" was compelling and I couldn't put it down once I'd started it. All I can say is, "Thank God I was born in the United States of America". Women at that time and in that place were no more than chattel and completely dependent on men for their food and what type of home they lived in. There were, I'm sure, some men who were great husbands and fathers. Those women that were fortunate enough to end up with a husband like that were treated well, albeit virtual slaves. The others were just out of luck, for there were men that were cruel and mistreated their women and their children. This was a really good read.

Written by a Jewish author., amazing read., the story of Diana in the Bible., tell all the Jewish customs, going back in time., really, really liked it., have suggested it to friends., this is my second copy., I gave the other one to a friend., she loved it!!! amazing read, try it!! you'll see what I mean.

I really enjoyed learning why certain traditions and customs, which I had no knowledge of, helped explain the historic meaning and value of The Red Tent. Very helpful.

I read this book and loved the thoughts the author placed inside the stories. It gives you such a different and loving way to share with women and a beautiful way to provide support to each other.

I'm sure it is good, but I bought the wrong book. This one is a psychological sequel to the original, which I will buy and read next summer.

I found the book quite interesting about the life for women of Dinah's time. I suggested this as a book my church book club might like many in my book club found many of the graphic descriptions on sex more then they wanted to read. I would not choose this book for my church book club again. I am glad I read it.
