Are there bee guards for this model?

I have 3 of the models offered here: 2 Ruby, 1 Diamond & 1 Orion/Twist; I've never experienced any "bee" or "ant" issues. I take down my feeders every 3 days in warm weather, dump the remaining homemade nectar (the only nectar I use and without any food coloring) and thoroughly wash all parts, inspect for mold and air dry. Warm weather I do this every 3 or 4 days. Once with another hummingbird feeder I had ant issues but it had a holder that was staked into a flower pot...never used it again.

The top is an ant moat. Fill it with water. The feeder is the only one I use now. It does NOT leak, and the moat works, IF you fill with WATER. Do not use any oily, greasy, or sticky substance anywhere near the feeder. It gets on their feet, beak, feathers, wings, and can be deadly.

How much nector is spilled after filling the jar and turning it over to hang the feeder?

i usaully fill the jar to the brim, after capping the jar... i grab the top of the jar (plastic part with hook) then grab the very bottom of feeder (plastic part with flower sippers and foot parking spaces) turn right side up very quickly....and gravity will do the rest... have not lost a sip since i purchase the feeders... they love it !

Is the container glass or plastic?

The clear part is glass; the red parts are plastic. The tag attached to the feeder says "BPA free." Also "No phthalates." I washed the plastic parts in the dishwasher before putting out the feeder the first time, and they made it through without warping. In the product description, however, the manufacturer says not to wash the plastic parts in the dishwasher (you can read that up there).
