Ever sprained your ankle, slipped your foot into the ice bucket, came back to the court with less confidence, and then sprained it again because of instability to your ankle? Ektio basketball shoes are the most innovative and revolutionary sneakers on the market that ball players have been waiting for their whole lives. Wearing tape or braces will be a thing of the past, and so will the restriction and suffocation that comes with them. Ektio has designed a product that provides you the rock solid ankle support you need to stay healthy while not limiting any of those important movements of the ankle needed to play the game at your highest level. Ektio is doctor invented, clinically tested and athlete approved.

If you have ankle issues, GET THESE SHOES!!!!!
Love Ektios! This is my 4th pair. I have owned the Post-Ups, the Breakaways (2 pairs) and now these Alexios. Every version has shown great improvements in material quality while retaining the AWESOME ankle protection that only Ektios provide. I have had 2 level 3 ankle sprains and the ligaments in my left ankle were so permanently weakened that I was even rolling them playing basketball in level 3 braces. I was seriously contemplating giving up basketball or having lateral ankle reconstruction surgery when I found the Ektios. I would not trade them for anything! In my experience I wear a size 11 in every shoe manufacturer except Nike, which I always wear an 11.5 in. Ektios are somewhat on the small side, but not as small as Nikes. I still wear an 11 in Ektios, though they fit quite snug when new, but they break in just enough for me so that I don't feel the need to go to 11.5s.** see updateThe bottom line is if you have ankle issues, I simply can't recommend these shoes enough and the Alexios are the best Ecktios to date.**11/24/2015 UPDATE: I just bought my 5th pair of Ektios (2nd pair of Alexios) in 3 years. The last pair I bought in January of 2015 is still holding up OK, but they will need replacing in the next month or two (the straps are beginning to fray, but they still function 100% fine) so I took advantage of the Yahoo Thanksgiving week discount. This time I went with a size 11.5. The prior Breakaways seemed to break-in a little more size wise than the Alexios so I decided to try the 11.5s. As I said above, I wear 11s in everything but Nike and now Ektios. The 11.5s fit great and I can't wait to get them on the court. I may retire my old ones a little early because this 1/2 size difference makes them feel that much better.Again, I can't re-iterate enough how glad I am I found Ektios!

Straps don't secure properly (tried two pairs)
Just got them. Seem great BUT there's a pretty significant problem with the straps:Pics 1-4: Shows the strapping process for the left shoe. For me, the lower strap seems too long - it blocks the upper strap from securing nicely as advertised*. The result from shifting around the straps to make room for each other is that the straps are slightly buckled and not entirely flush with their contacting surfaces, and there is a net loss in velcro contact.Pic 5: This issue happens to a lesser extent on the right foot.Is this normal? It seems functional - I did a few sprints in the house - but I worry the structural awkwardness and reduced velcro grip mean less stability than intended by design.* I just realized, if you zoom in on the first advertised picture, you may notice that the straps are slightly arched above the shoe’s surface, i.e. there is a spatial gap, and the straps aren’t tightly flush against the shoe. I can perfectly replicate this look, but the semi-loose strap positioning is just not secure. The small added security will only wear off the more you play. Wtf? How is this shoe working for other people?UPDATE 10/4/2015Got new pair: same problem. I wish Ektio had a chance to understand what I was dissatisfied with before the new pair shipped. Plus the shoelace broke, ugh. Going to return (and not exchange) this time.2nd Pair PicturesLeft ShoePic 6: Awkwardly over-extended lower strapPic 7: One top strap configuration: folding top strap over both straps, down the middle.Pic 8: Another top strap configuration: folding top strap over itself.Pics 9-10: Other angles(Left) Shoelace BrokePic 11: Lace broke after getting stuck in one hole, and I tried pulling it loosePic 12: Weird welding (feels like hard plastic)? Caused lace to get stuck, and then to break easilyPic 13: Other hard plastic spots, almost causing more breaks during tighteningRight ShoePics 14-18: Mirror versions of left shoe pictures 6-10Why 2 stars, not 1? I would rate 1 star if a 3rd pair had the same issue, and also if I actually played in them, basically to accumulate fully damning evidence that the strap issue makes the shoes suck. It just so happens that I’m too demoralized to try a 3rd, and I’m too risk-averse (given my severely weakened ankles from 15+ sprains) to play in them.I really like the concept of focusing on ankle support for a pair of basketball shoes, so I sincerely hope Ektio will do well in general – as long as they actually care about quality. Hoping my case is a weird anomaly.

Good, but not great. The Breakaway is a better shoe.
I owned multiple pairs of the Ektio Breakaway and I love them. One of the best shoes I have ever played in, not to mention the most supportive shoe ever.I was really excited for Alexio when it was announced. Ektio continues to create a better looking shoe with each iteration, and I was really hoping for material and cushioning innovation to go along with the new design. Sadly, that didn't happen. Doesn't have the step-in comfort the Breakaway has. It feels really big and clunky on my foot. The heel midsole/outsole area is much thicker than the breakaway. Overall, just not as fluid or comfortable to play in as Ektio's previous shoe. However, I really like the comfort around the ankle, lacing system and the feeling of the upper (outside of the awkward rubber toe-box). Needless to say, the traction and support are out of this world. I would still recommend this shoe to anyone who needs/wants the most advanced ankle support system you can find on any basketball shoe. Just check out the Ektio Breakaway as well. It's not the looker the Alexio is, but it might be a better shoe for you.I am 6'1, 225 pounds and wear a size 13. Just in case you were wondering.

They fit and feel good but I have not played basketball with them on yet. I'll let you know.

Great feel and support
Great feel and support. An upgrade over the Breakaway as the collar is much more rigid on the outer side of the ankle to provide more protection and more flexible on the inner. Fits narrow, same as the Breakaway, so I ordered 1 size above my usual. (US 8 to US 9). Did the same for the Breakaways, no changes.
