Just received this mat and I LOVE IT!!! It's way more exciting and beautiful in person. I guess I didn't pay close attention and was not aware of the texture of the mat, but was very happy with it!!! Way better than what I thought I was getting. Cannot wait to use this everyday!!! So far it's excellent! The material makes it a bit slick, but I think that's more me and what I need to correct with my yoga. But this mat is AMAZING!!! It's beautiful and comfortable and just plain AMAZING! I cannot get over it. Will definitely be ordering from Yoga Zeal again!Update: (month+ later) OMG!!! I took this to hot yoga for 75minutes, vinyasa. it was the best thing ever! I didnt slid AT ALL!!! LOVE IT!

I have had the Blue Lunar mat by Yoga Zeal for about a year now. I have grown drastically with this mat and have a very positive relationship with it! The design is beautiful, and after a year and many washes the color has hardly faded. I receive compliments on the mat constantly and am asked where it is from!Yes, the mat is a bit slippery at the start of your practice. As listed in the description, the material on the top (the moons) is like a built in towel that is perfect for bikram. In order to avoid slipping all you need to do is simply warm up and the heat/moisture that will naturally form at your hands and feet will allow for an amazing grip. You should not be flowing unless you are warm anyway, so if you are slipping this is an indication that you need to ground back down on your mat and get your body moving!My only complaint would be that the mat is a little heavier than other mats I have, and for this reason it's not really conducive to travel with. It weighs down my luggage and would need to be packed as it's own carry on. Alas, it is not a travel mat so this is a minor issue. I just feel bad leaving my mat home when I'm going to do yoga elsewhere in the world..Regardless, I would absolutely recommend this mat. It's a worthy purchase and will bring much happiness to its buyers :)! 5 stars

I purchased this Yoga Zeal microfiber mat for my girlfriend's main birthday gift back in May of this year. She was completely stoked! She has really dedicated a lot of her time to YOGA over this past year and it is now a major part of her life! While advancing in her practice I noticed she would sometimes complain about her original mat becoming "slippery" especially during Hot Yoga sessions. So we did a little research and found a solution.....Microfiber! Being a surfer I know how important quality equipment is and how it relates to performance while maximizing the longevity of my gear and my over all satisfaction. Not familiar with Yoga I thought a Yoga Mat was just a piece of rubber someone layed on to do "moves" but after witnessing the joy and serenity this microfiber mat from Yoga Zeal brought to my girlfriend I now know how important it was for her to have this! From what she tells me, her whole yoga experience has changed drastically for the better after I bought her this! I highly recommend this to anyone that is looking to upgrade from a simple mat. I'm still considered "Boyfriend of the Year" 2 months later!

After researching several yoga brands and mats online, I ordered the Yoga Zeal Black Lunar Yoga Mat. This mat is gorgeous, it has a microfiber vegan suede top bonded to natural tree rubber. The construction and quality is very similar, if not identical to the Mika Yoga and Yoga Design Lab mats. I have a Jade Yoga mat also which is excellent but I really gravitate towards these comfortable microfiber suede top mats. They're recommended for hot yoga and grip better with sweat. However, I actually really enjoy using this mat for my nighttime restorative practice as well. Having a bit of slip is fantastic for a lot of the calming restorative flows. If I need more grip, I lightly mist the mat with an aromatherapy yoga mat spray and it works out brilliantly. I absolutely love the Lunar phases design! I hope Yoga Zeal will add more designs to their collection. I will definitely purchase from them again in the future.

Looks exactly as pictured. A nice suede feeling top. Not slippery when sweating. I love it, seems to be extra long too. I use it for Ashtanga yoga. I do not recommend you using it outside, catches hair/dust/dirt easily. Not very heavy. Seems like the top may fade over time...but not sure! I have had other yoga mats for years...I am curious if this will stand the test of time! It is beautiful! The moon is so inspiring during my practice!

I toyed a lot with the idea of what sort of yoga mat to get. I started using a morning yoga app less than a month ago after a lifetime of *wanting* to be a yogi, & I started taking local classes a few weeks ago, & I knew I wanted a mat of my own, but couldn't really justify spending a lot of money, as someone who was just starting my practice. I considered just getting a cheap one from Target or something, & briefly wanted to get an extra-long mat from Manduka [I'm 6'3"], but I saw the Banana Leaf mat & fell in love. The suede finishing didn't really feel like it took getting used to, since my practice is so new, & I am so happy to wake up every morning & hit my mat, & I have gotten nothing but compliments when I take it to class. As a few other reviews have mentioned, it's pretty heavy, but I don't mind; I'd rather carry it with me & be able to practice on it than leave it home. I honestly recommend this for anyone, beginner or pro.

I love this mat, it is lighter weight than my other hot yoga mat so the first time I felt it move under between the floor and the mat. But, now that I'm used to the lighter weight, it is fantastic for hot yoga (I go to Corepower and do HPF, CP2, and Sculpt). I bring a small hand towel and no longer fuss with a mat towel. I sweat a ton and don't slip during flows. Love it!
