Fake SJCAM
Turns out this is not an original SJCAM -- for some reason the fake models are aloud to sell on Amazon and to use the SJ designation for SJCAM products. This Tronsport is making a rep for itself by doing a copy of the SJCAM but the same level of product excellence is questionable. I got fooled watching an YouTube video comparing the SJ4000 and SJ5000 thinking this was comparing what SJCAM had to offer. I ordered this because both the 4000 and 5000 in the YouTube review look like the original but I soon discovered SJCAM puts their logo under the cam lens and both of these in the review said tronsport not SJCAM. So, I went toe SJCAM Website and you could clearly see the difference in the SJ5000 model. The real SJ5000 has three buttons on the side and the button on the front of the cam is at the top and not at the bottom as the fake Tronsport is. I am an Amazon Prime customer so this will go back. In looking at the YouTube review the neither of the cams look too bad but it is not a review of the real brand of SJCAM. I have notice a bunch of product reviews reviewing the fakes as if they are the real deal, so it is little wonder so many are having trouble with these lower quality knock offs of the SKCAM. Yes, the original SJCAM is a knock off of the GoPro cams but wait, that is in appearance only -- SJCAM has been around for some time, they took on this simpler look of the GoPro but added LCD screens on the back and if you have ever used a GoPro you will see the need for this -- why GoPro waited to add the screen to their model 4 is, my guess, that they didn't have to, not until someone like SJCAM came along with this improvement, pushing them to keep up. Watch out for the reviewers that seem to be confused and fooled themselves, comparing one fake after another as if they are the real deal?UPDATE: SJCAM has managed to become a mini cam brand by designing a Cam nearly identical to the famous GoPro cams. Their version gained a certain popularity because of their quality build. Eventually they installed the same chip set as the GoPro. They were so successful that other CHINESE manufactures wanted to duplicate SJCAM's success. This led to a GoPro knock becoming a victim of knock offs trying to copy them. There are so many knock offs of the the knock off now that the whole youtube reviews has become so corrupted with reviewers that are themselves confused about which knock off they are reviewing -- some reviewers actually think they are reviewing the real SJCAM when they are not. Some of these reviewers give really low marks to the cam they are reviewing, which is understandable as they reviewing a fake knock off of the real SJCAM and thus the quality control is any bodies guess. As far as the firmware updates, you will notice on some of the fake SJCAM are starting to use the exact same chip sets, just as SJCAM is installing the same chip sets used in the GoPro. So why not just buy a GoPro? Hum, let me think -- $139 for an SJCAM SJ5000 or $500 for a GoPro 4? Apparently in this field of small cams there is not protection from copycats. After all, look at automobiles, how similar they are but under different brands, every car company copies all other car companies. If GoPro is not made in China right now it will be eventually, competition almost demands this. I have no idea where GoPro is made or the origin of where their parts come from? I do know that all the Iphones from Apple are made in China, so, technically the cell phones should cost half what they are charging people now -- everything is worth what you are willing to pay for it and Apple has done a good job at selling their brand for top dollar -- maybe GoPro can do the same thing?

Great value. Forget the gopro!
**UPDATE**Use it on my dashboard and got in a fender bender a few weeks ago.Wasn't my fault.... and the video proved that. My claims adjuster used that video to deny me having to pay out to the other car's damage and having the other person's insurance pay out my damages. This camera is worth every penny. The night shooting isn't very good. You get a lot of noise. But a little editting afterwards and you've got decent footage.Great value for money and you can get a handful of these for the price of one Gopro!Ordered mine from Geekbuying. I've posted a few sample videos on you tube just check the username arni0202make sure you play it in 1080p to get the closest idea of what it can do. Granted it's still compressed on youtube but it looks really good! You can't go wrong with this camera. Took it to Tulum, MX and did some underwater recording as well and it was wonderful. Highly recommended.I currently use one for my dashcam and will be getting a few more to cover all angles of my car. They have a setting so you can have them record when they receive power and auto record in 10 minute loops and overwrite oldest to newest... So I don't have to fiddle with or format the card when it fills. Great feature to have.

Excellent value for a really nice "hero" camera
I couldn't be happier with this camera. I've had it about a week and I was pretty happy with it to begin with. Does whatever I need it to do. However, I was wondering how it stacked up to the camera it's obviously knocked off, GoPro. Today a friend of mine wanted to compare the quality of his GoPro to my Tronsport so we set up side by side comparisons. Be aware, his GoPro is a first generation, so later versions of the GoPro may do better in comparison. As far as picture quality, there is no comparison. The Tronsport has a vastly better picture quality than the GoPro v1. Far better color fidelity and better overall quality. He was a little perplexed by this outcome. Then we started going over the features built in, and I mentioned zoom. "Zoom?" I guess his GoPro has no zoom feature. Of course, the Tronsport "zoom" isn't optical, it simply takes the image from a smaller portion of the sensor, with attendant loss of image quality. Still..........I have no idea how this camera will stack up against the latest GoPro. But I'll say this, my friend is going to buy several of the Tronsport cameras. He was impressed, and he isn't easily impressed.

Another chinese quality product, really Impressed.
Well... i never had a camera like that, its simply great, wide angle lens cover more than 100° and video quality is good, (good for a camera in this range of price) records in fullHD 1080p, 720, VGA, (and other formats) also photos are clear and macro is good for the lens. Im gona use this as a dashcam, you can set it to interval record, and max video lenght is about an hour (1hour per video).DONT use cheap MicroSD,(Inlcuded cheap and ultra generic SDcard probably dont work with this camera) the camera wont recognize almos any kind of generic cards. Use Brand class 6 cards or more.Very rough plastic, camera feels rugged and resistant, some little things like battery holder release button and cap looks like cheap plasic. Protective underwater case feels really strong and resistant, package incluides A LOT of accesories like stands and clips, cleaning cloth, replacement parts and more.Great deal for an under 100$ sports camera-

Save your money.
This takes really low quality video. It seems to have trouble processing movement or something. It gets blocky. It's not the fish eye lens, or the resolution. It's weird. I don't like it. Just get a waterproof phone case. It'll take better video.
