Greedy Apostrophe: A Cautionary Tale

This book is so well-written. Amazing that someone can write such an engaging, humorous, and educational book about a punctuation mark. The kids and I loved it. 4th and 3rd grade.

I bought this with the hopes that it would tie into one of our reading segments in the resource room that dealt with the apostrophe. It didn't work in as well as I'd like. It still left us a bit confused as to Mr. Greedy's exact purpose.It's a cute book, but not exactly what I was looking for.

Excellent addition for 4th grade grammar lessons! Kids love it!

This book offers a hilarious introduction to the correct use of apostrophes. I've been known to sentence my (college level) editing students to reading the cautionary tale aloud to the class when they make apostrophe errors. I guarantee that not a student leaves my class without learning the difference between its and it's. I look forward to the day that the Greedy Apostrophe is permanently imprisoned in the dreaded Punctuation Pen!

My students have a hard time with apostrophes, so this book seemed like the answer, but the ending is befuddling and I find that the last page - with simple explanations of terms - is the best part. No need to read the book at all.
