Operation Battleaxe: Wavell vs. Rommel, 1941 is a two-player game that simulates the Allied attempt to lift the Axis siege of the Libyan port of Tobruk, June 15 to 17, 1941. One player commands the attacking Allied forces and the other player commands the defending Axis forces.Fast, furious, and chess-like, this is a game for players who love concentrated action! It utilizes a streamlined version of the classic "area impulse" system. An Initial Review: It sets up in minutes, plays in an hour-and-a-half, and while easy to teach, it’s by no means elementary. Both sides get the chance to attack and defend, and the asymmetry of the force pools makes it a great candidate to flip the board and play two in a single evening. A very cool game with interesting decisions, and perfect introduction to the area-impulse family—nowhere near as involved as Breakout: Normandy and, for my money, more fun than Storm Over Arnhem. Great components and clear rules. If Take Aim Designs and Revolution Games team up to make more in this vein, I’ll be buying without hesitation.
