This "sock" doesn't need a shoe or sandal around it. The material is mechanically speaking, very robust. Though they are made for outdoors, I use them as a night slipper . I live in rural Thailand and the night time often involves having to go outside to chase King Cobras off of the back porch. (No kidding..) They run a little small . They are very warm. They are made from a a hybrid wet suit material. This item needs to be matched to the shoe or sandal they are going to worn with. I wear a 12 and were I to use this item on a formal trek, I would purchase a 12 1/2. I would use this product on late fall, winter treks involving water crossings and rain. This item is so well made, that I doubt I will ever have to purchase again. ✯✯✯✯✯✯ Six Stars.

I haven't worn them hiking yet but I did spill a glass of water on them to test them and the water rolled off leaving my foot dry. These socks are very stiff though, and a bit tough to get on. The top of the sock is also very tight and I'm not sure if they will be good for a long hike. The foot part fit perfectly but the top would only fit someone like Olive Oyl without digging into the skin.

I bought these for rowing and they are very comfortable and sturdy but definitely not waterproof. If i dip my feet over the sides of the boat during a break they are drenched inside and out. They would be better used under waterproof boots. Do not buy these thinking you can wear them in the water on their own! Another issue was the size which I initially got wrong. I am a men's 7 and the small fits great, an 8 could wear these also, at 9 I would go up to the mediums

I love these socks! These socks are breathable,keeping my feet dry and cool. The materials are soft and comfortable, perfectly suitable for doing sports. The cushioning design is nice.

We are walking the Camino del Norte in Spain. Today was raining so I was happy to have them with me. Wrong. The walk was 6 hours and my feet were soaking wet 10 minutes after we started walking. They do not work at all. I wish I could send them back.
