Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief Illustrated Edition

This was AMAZING. I've long been a Rick Riordan fan but I am now mama to an 8 year old boy who HATES to read. He loves being read to, and we have started with some of the stories I was enchanted by as kind/teen/young adult. He like Harry Potter but I stumbled across this illustrated version after I read the Heroes of Olympus series for myself. I thought he would love it and I was right! He is enthralled by the pictures, which were BREATH TAKING and excited by the story line. This book is pretty advanced for average 2nd graders, lots of big words, full of Greek words because it's fiction based off of Greek Mythology. So amazing though. Everyone looked just like I had always pictured in my head! Usually we do 1 chapter a night, but when we started reading The Lightning Theif, often we read 3 per night because he was BEGGING to see/hear more. We were SO EAGER to get our hands on the second one, and I was SO BUMMED that I could find it- as it turns out they didn't illustrate any further, the closes I can get are the graphic novels, AKA the comic book versions and it is just NOT the same thing. 😭 PLEASE DO THE NEXT BOOK EXPEDITIOUSLY!

This book was exactly what I hoped for. We bought this for our nephew for Christmas. He’s a big Harry Potter fan, but he’s too young to get past book three. We bought this hoping to get him interested in the series and give him something new to follow. Not only was the story a hit (I knew it would be), but the illustrations are beautiful and exactly what I’d imagined from Rick Riordan’s scene descriptions. I also love the map of Camp Half-blood. Truly hoping that there will be illustrated copies of the rest! Side note: My sister-in-law was excited to know about the teaching aids on the author website as well.

I love this book and love the full page illustrations as I read it to my elementary aged son. It's great to get to pass down a favorite series and the books very good condition. 👍

A very exciting novel with lots of twists and turns, many adventures, valuable friendships, super power plays and just enough fear.

I love mythology long before Riordan published his first Percy Jackson books. I love his books and creative ideas of setting mythologies into our modern era. When I saw that they were doing an illustrated version of "The Lightning Thief", I knew that I just had to get a copy. It makes re-reading all the more fun! The illustrations are beautiful, they are done by the same artist who illustrated Riordan's "Percy Jackson's Greek Gods" and "Percy Jackson's Greek Heroes". I hope that like the Harry Potter series, they will continue to do more illustrated version of the other books in the series.

When I asked my 10-year old nephew what he was reading, he told me about this book. I told him I would put it on my book list and that I’d read it. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it exceeded my expectations; me enjoying a book for 10-year olds...??? My only regret is that these weren’t around when I was 10 years old. But better later than never at age 72.

The book itself is beautiful. However mine arrive with multiple tears on the book jacket and had been taped. I wanted to exchange it but it only allowed returns...and I'd return and purchase again except the price is now $20 higher than when I ordered. It was a birthday gift for someone and I. Super disappointed in the appearance.

Wonderful illustrated version of this loved book. I thought this would be the perfect bridge into reading full chapter books and it really was. My 5 year old son loved listening to the story and the illustrations helped him stay connected to the book.

Estava com muita dúvida se comprava ou não, mas vi alguns videos no YouTube e resolvi arriscar, e valeu muito a pena!!! A capa é um papel que é possível retirar (o papel é bem sensível então tome cuidado com ele na hora de tirar ou guardar) a capa em si com o papel retirado é um azul com uma testura mais aveludada, com o relevo de um tridente. desenhos lindos (algumas páginas não tem desenho porém eu não achei problema já que os desenhos são muito realistas e bem feitos) espero ter ajudado!!!

This was a present for my 10-year-old son who now loves the whole Percy Jackson series, and indeed everything Rick Riordan has written. This makes a nice gift, with its oversize, colourful illustrations.

I bought this for my daughter (a long time Percy Jackson fan) for Christmas. She absolutely loved it and was over the moon with this gift. An all around great purchase.

The illustrated book of Percy Jackson is so absolutely a must have for all the fans. The drawings are great. I love the story. It has everything. Action, good Charakters and an interesting story!
