Coco Bliss Coconut Coir is a 100% natural by-product of coconut harvest. Coir consists of the coarse fibers extracted from the husk on the outer shell of a coconut. Coir has superior water holding capacity allowing for excellent air space and drainage. Coir can be used soil amendment for potted plants, containers and gardens and is a sustainable alternative to peat moss. Coir is easier to hydrate and lasts longer in soil than peat moss., all the while not destroying natural peat bogs. Coco Coir has a neutral pH of 5.8–6.8. It can help break up hard clay soils so that nutrients can be used more efficiently. Adding one part coir to two parts soil or potting mix containing compost creates and excellent growing medium for gardens, planters, and raised beds. Coir comes compressed into 250 gm bricks, which makes for easy and convenient storage. Add water and soak your brick for at least 1 hour before using it. A fully-hydrated brick can hold eight to ten times its volume in water. The final volume of the expanded coir depends on the amount of water used to constitute it. Plantonix Coco coir is fully washed multiple times to reduce the risk of salt buildup in your soil.

Updated Review: *HAD* Great, minimal packaging!
LOVED the lack of unnecessary packaging for these! Other brands have been wrapped in plastic and it's annoying to get it off without cutting into the coir and making a mess. I loved that I could just open the box and grab a piece of it to rehydrate in a bucket. Plus, yeah, it fits great at the bottom of a 5 gal bucket. The brick I rehydrated seemed a little less compact than others I've used, but the packaging and size of the coir bricks will make me buy them again in the future.Update: the second and third pictures are what I received when I ordered double the quantity from before. I don't know if everything has been updated and this is just how they ship now or if smaller quantities have the same minimal packaging. In any event, I was disappointed to receive two boxes within a box, tape on just about every seam, with a taped plastic bag holding the coco coir in the individual boxes. I specifically reordered the same stuff since I was so pleased with the minimal packaging before.

Better than those large compressed coco fiber bricks.
Easier to use rather than those large bricks of coco fiber ! You can simply break them in half or in quarters and rehydrate a little or a lot. Great for small projects like seedling propagation or large projects by adding to prepared soil in raised beds for added moisture retention and soil drainage.Looks are deceiving they are thin, half inch flat compressed pieces but when added to water they expand up to 10 times their original volume making it a great value and an effective soil amendment.

Cannot go wrong with this product
This is excellent Coco Coir. I use it in my worm farm. I have composting worms & they love this. It is bedding & also can be food. This Coir is organic & that is very important for my purpose. Great customer service and great product. Highly recommend.

Works well but much smaller than expected.
Found that the blocks are quite small. Took four bricks to refill our composting toilet. Will stick to the cheaper large single blocks.

Great for starting seeds and for adding "mulch" to potted plants
I like that it's loose and doesn't compact too much for new plants or plants that need a little extra mulch or compost. This stuff degrades easily enough, but takes time. It holds a good amount of water, but drains well. I love it, and use it for a lot of different things, with a lot of success.

Easy to Store and Easy to Use
I bought this type of Coco Coir brick because I wanted to be able to use smaller amounts in a batch. I am very pleased with how easy it is to store and then use as necessary. In fact I am getting ready to order more.

Soak first, then mix into soil
Had a balcony ten stories up with a southern exposure in Dallas that needed extra soil prep because of bothe the high winds and sun. This was the trick. Loved how it hold moisture and goes from a flat brick to a pile of good stuff. Very convenient.
