I thought this contained the LP version of Lightning Man but it does not. No worries. I'll just get a copy of Showtime.

Great "oldie"
I've been wanting a copy of this since it came out. And years later, I finally got it. It does not disappoint.

I really want to give it 5-star rating, but I just can't...
...for a simple reason. There's really only three songs on this disc. Yeah, sure, there are various manipulations of them (2 "Lightning Man" remixes, three "Getting Closer" remixes, and 2 "Fun To Be Had" remixes), but there are still only three song-foundations that are built upon for about 40-minutes.There are some solid mixes on this fabulous EP. The first mix of "Lightning Man" (titled "Lightning Man (industry vs. the ebb mix)") is arguably better then the original version off of SHOWTIME, and it is definitely one of the best remixes of all time. However, the next version of it (the "RSW mix") is truly terrible. I always skip over that atrocious version. After that, you get three pretty-good versions of the Nitzer Ebb classic "Getting Closer." The first version is called "Getting Closer (the pool mix)," and it is quite possibly the best remix on the entire EP. After that, you get a very interesting version of "Getting Closer" titled the "Trance Mix," and it is very different then the album version. It's not very good, but it's own unique qualities make it the most interesting remix on the album and easily the most-different when compared to its album counterpart. The third and last remix of G.C. is titled the "Kitchen Mix," and it's almost identical to the album version. I truly hate this mix. Ugh. After the G.C. sessions, you get two very good versions of the Nitzer Ebb hit "Fun To Be Had." The first mix, titled the "Zulu Mix," is far superior to the album version, and it's a true highlight on the album. The second remix of "Fun To Be Had" is titled the "George Clinton Mix/Long Mix," and I'm not sure what it has to do with George Clinton, but it's definitely long as hell (it's over seven minutes). It's a quality remix, but it is not the best.Overall, I would highly recommend this EP (although the album SHOWTIME, which all these mix's original versions came from, is much better). Don't pay over $11 for it: it's no masterpiece, of course, but what EP is?

Really a pile of crap, from a Nitzer Ebb fan.
I bought this in 1990, and actually borrowed $5.00 from my sister to get it at this record store on Melrose that was right next to the Golden Apple.I hated it. The 'boom-ksss-boom-ksss-boom-ksss-boom-ksss' junk that they glued in behind the songs really got on my nerves quick.Geffen has had a long tradition with screwing up Nitzer Ebb remixes. This is a good example.Stay away from this disc unless you're just looking to buy it for a collection.

fun to be had
Remixes provide different interpretations of old master works. Meant for occasional usage. Better than not having a remix album.King Club, cheap OB, oboe on oboe, she's turning off the lasers.Good times, remix from an old friend. You don't like it, you aren't getting it. There's the door.
