"A Sword Is Useless In The Hands Of A Coward"
This is a one-of-a-kind documentary, tracing the boxing career of Lucia Rijker. Yes, a WOMAN BOXER. And it's a fascinating portrait of dedication, courage, and skill, beautifully told and expertly edited. Even if you're not familiar with the sport, it's an inspiring story of an extremely talented boxer who just happens to be a woman. Trained by legendary fighter Freddie Roach On Freddie Roach 01 [HD ] and promoted by Bob Arum, Lucia Rijker had a great run. This is one of my husband's favorite films; he boxed as a young man and says (with authority) that Rijker is one of the most skilled boxers he's seen and that her boxing form is as close to perfect as he's ever seen, bar none. A great film and interesting story with an enthralling pace: highly recommended!

Great Prize Winning Documentary
10/10. I like some documentaries and this one was no exception. Lucjia Riker is a good boxer, wonderful person. She loves boxing, shows her soft side while training hard. She never seems to back down from any challenge even if it were recovering from torn ligaments in both shoulders as an exception. I've had this, not easy to rehab from, so this was a wonderful watch.

Beautiful, Strong , Sensual
Lucia Rijker, the female boxer who is the star of Shadow Boxers is liquid steel. She is gorgeous, powerful, intelligent and incredibly charismatic. The director has done for female athletes what Bruce Weber did for male athletes - she has aestheticized a powerful elite female athlete in a way that makes her look as gorgous and sensual as a Calvin Klein model while she dances around the ring gracefully anihiliating her opponents. Bankowsky shoots and edits with such creative beauty that both Rijker and the sport are elevated to the level of high art.

Female boxers
Women's boxing is very much a poor cousin to men's boxing. Getting an insight into the mentality of the women who do fight and what motivates them was to me very interesting. If you love boxing, if you love female boxing, you will love this. I still haven't got it back from my boxing mad friend hahahaha

good documentary on an under-reported sport
The filmmaker provides insight and action on these under-the-radar athletes, especially in the Lucia Rijker segment. Too bad that many of the top femaler boxers never get a chance to show thei abilities to a large audience.

Insightfully Brilliant!
Drew me in from the beginning. Gives viewer great insight of the subject matter and leaves him/her feeling as if they know the characters personally.
