South Shore Spark Bookcase Headboard, Pure Black, Twin

I’m very happy with this headboard! It was easy to assemble, but definitely need two people to put together. All items arrived dusty but no cracks, so a simple wiped down before assembly is required. Overall with how we will be positioning the beds, it’s sturdy, even when we are not bolting it to the frames that were purchased from another company.

Good ,sturdy ,works either with a frame in a set or just by itself.i did not have original bedframe that this headboard could be attached to but I used it against the wall and then just push my frame to it.works great ,love shelves plus has holes for cables that you can hide behind the shelves

This product works fine, but the back board came slightly cracked, most likely from shipping. It didn't matter a whole lot to me bc I knew it was going to be covered by the blankets I store in the shelves. Got some bracers to attach to the top on the back bc the whole thing was tipping back if I tried to lean against it due to the a pretty thick baseboard on my floor

The goodVery nice looking, takes a beating.The badthen you come close and actually rub your finger along the edges and they are so sharp, that durring the 4 hour assembly that it took me to assemble let the bed, drawer chest and headboard I had cuts and scrapes on me, my hands also gouged my floor. Year after my 3 year old son would scrape his leg, back and anything else that came in contact of any edge or even the hardware itself is sooooo sharp that will leave mark on you guaranteed. Then, the bottoms of drawers are not veneered at all which make the edge again, super sharp. I haaaaaaaate this purchase and will definitely research into the assembly before the purchase. Came in a Million pieces, unlike say other furniture stores where light assembly required. Ure basically building the thing from scratch. Drawers took the longest.

This product is not high quality as you'd expect for the price, but it was a good option for our son's room. It looks as you'd expect, and it wasn't difficult to put together. However, there's another piece you can purchase that provides a bed frame and drawers. We didn't get this piece. I don't know if that would make more stable, but as a stand-alone, it wobbles on carpet. Does it wobble on it's own? No, you need to bump it or lay down in bed. There's included hardware to secure to the option bed frame. The hardware is not designed to work with a standard metal bedframe (the kind you get with your mattress). We ended up attaching our own hardware to attach to a metal bedframe, and this improved the situation, but it's still wobbles a little. I expect we should attach it to the wall to keep it from moving.The other thing to be aware of is that it's not quite tall enough if you use a boxspring and pillow-top mattress. The shelf was too low, and my son's pillow would slide into the shelf. As you can imagine, this isn't ideal when moving around at night. Again, we had to jury rig risers to increase the height.The process was a good problem-solving exercise with my 13-year old son, and I suspect having him help me all along the way took any sting out of issues that should have ideally been addressed by the manufacturer. And, importantly, he's happy with his new headboard.

I ordered my son of one of the south shore captains beds. After a while he decided he wanted headboard so we ordered this one. He is 14 years old and put this together by himself. The first time he tried it he messed some thing up so he put it in his closet and left it alone for two weeks. Then I urged him to take it out and try it again. He put it together with no problems. This is low profile. If you want a higher headboard be advised. Look at the product specifications. This arrived unblemished unbroken and with no missing parts.

I always appreciate South Shore product instructions when assembling their furniture. This headboard is no exception. It looks great in my room and I love the storage.My bed is on a high platform so I don't have the headboard attached to the platform and the cubbies are even with the top of the mattress. That's fine for me, but some people may not like it, so be careful if your bed is on a platform or a higher than normal box spring.

I really have enjoyed having this head board. I have had it about 8 months. Although using it as a bookcase does not seem practical, I do store the current book or two I am reading and we keep an extra pillow in there. The reason using it as a bookcase does not work well for me is because I have a pillow top mattress and I would continually hit my head on the books if I put them there. I use the top nightly for water or hot chocolate or I put my book there if I get up. I cannot imagine anything different. It fits my needs well. It does have an optional hole in the middle (or a cover if you don't want it) so that you can have a wire or more running through there without it trying to go up and over. This would be great for a lamp! I have the bed frame that goes with it and they are wonderful together. I had help building each part and putting them together, something I recommend.
