I've already tried two different "high ranking" Thunderbolt docking stations, including the highly rated CalDigit TS3; nevertheless, this thing blows all other docking stations out of the water. Contrastingly, the CalDigit TS3 barely worked for me. Its entire operation was extremely inconsistent; its issues Included, but was not entirely limited to: dropping various connections and dropping overall power to many of the ports.However, on the brighter side of the Thunderbolt 3 world is this astoundingly-beautiful Accell docking station device which Ive deemed the best of the best and it's most definitely worth every penny. Moreover, in fact, I bought two! One for each desktop replacement laptop. In an even more positive note unlinked the CalDigit TS3, thus far, there have been no video drop outs, no sound issues with my wireless headphones connect through one of the USB ports and no internet drop outs and no compatibility snafus. This device definitely takes advantage of the Thunderbolt 3 technology to the fullest extent without any hiccups and I highly recommend it! You have to try it. Once you give it a go, in my opinion, you will agree that this device will set the bar for all Thunderbolt 3 docking stations.It's solidly built out of metal and also doubles as a laptop lift! I have nothing negative to say about this docking station at all. Nevertheless, if something changes, I will update everyone through this review.Cheers!

Update: With SiP, I needed this dock more than ever. Contacted Accell customer support, who looked into this and quickly issued RMA. Upon receiving the damaged unit they were quick to send out a replacement unit. It is working without a problem so far.—I have a 2017 MacBook Pro 13" (w/ Touchbar) which I hoped to use with this hub. From the get go, the unit had difficulty enabling all USB ports, the DisplayPort failed to connect to displays, ethernet connection did not seem to work, and the D/A conversion via the audio port was subpar. Still, I tried to use it & some things worked. For example USB-C to HDMI converter worked for connection displays & a couple of USB 3.0 ports seemed to work well. Late last year, the A/C adapter gave up.

The unit I received runs quite hot. When setting the laptop on top of the unit it makes the laptop hotter. In my opinion, this is not a good design. Perhaps I got a defective unit. I do not know.

This Accell Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station worked pretty well when I initially received it. I have a 2018 15" MacBook Pro and a Dell monitor. The powered USB port didn't consistently power my WD MyPassport external drive or my Apple OEM CD ROM drive. But it did adequately work for other USB peripherals, including thumb drives. The monitor worked well using the USB-C thunderbolt port. Although, oddly, the screen settings (colors and contrasts) were different from when I plugged the monitor directly into the MBP using the same cable, and required adjustment. The biggest problem, though, became apparent a couple of months after purchase: When plugged into the hub for charging, my MBP overheats. It becomes disturbingly warm to the touch. I did not dare leave it on overnight once the issue came to light. However, when I switch the MBP over to an Apple OEM charge block and cable, no overheating occurs; it then works properly.So I've stopped using this Accell Docking Station and begun using Apple's OEM USB-C to digital AV multiport adapter. It works well, causes no overheating, and has an extra USB-A port. And is less expensive.

For the $ this does the job well. Works well with my M1 MBP. I prefer the display port with an external monitor, works a bit better. However, you can still use an HDMI with an adapter. Lots of other needed and functional ports and fast. I have 1 large monitor, cam, and other items working off it. For $100, the best deal going.

First of all packaged well, I've had products delivered and found issues simply because my product was not packaged properly. I truly love It is a beautiful addition to my workspace because of it's design making connections is nice and easy. It's simple and quick to plug in when i'm home yet it's small enough to travel with me should I need it. I am happy to have this new addition to my workspace!

When I investigated the power delivery of the charger that came with my 13" 2018 MacBook Air, I found it only delivered about 34 watts. I had a 2014 15" MacBook Pro that came with a 85W charger, a 2.5" HDD and a DVD player. Since most of the MacBooks now has SDD instead of power-hungry HDD, and no DVD players, I'm surprised so many of these powdered Thunderbolt docks come with powerful charging ports. They're good for fast charging the typical 13" and 15" MacBooks and causing it to heat up, but I'd prefer a slower charging port id I were to leave my laptop charge overnight.

The fastest speed 40Gbps Thunderbolt 3 Docking on unique aluminum housing. I have been using the Accell Thunderbolt dock for a few months with my MacBook about 8-10 hours a day, liked the aluminum housing that acting like heat sink, slightly warm while the computer was being charged. Always work and no over-heated issue. It came with a big135watts power supply, charged MacBook. Happy with my investment.
