A bit less power but variable speed 2yr Update
Six months ago my 20yr old pool pump burned out. It was every inefficient sucking up 3,000 watts of power and only one speed so i had it on a timer to run 4hrs a day. Now with this new one it is using 1/3 the power at full speed. I have setup the onboard timer for 8hrs a day on "normal" speed and the rest of the time it is running on ECO mode and have the RPMs set to 1600. It moves the water around nicely and the pump has been running 24hrs a day now and i have to say the pool has stayed super clean. Chemical balance stays with in range and only have to add in the minimum amount just to keep it balanced once a week. As for energy savings, it only uses 120watts in it's ECO mode, and it is super quiet! you can't even hear it running unless you are right up on it.In normal mode i have it set at 2600 RPM and you can still hear it, but you really have to listen for it. My A/C condenser is next to it and it is louder than the pool pump. So, with only the pool pump on normal mode, and it dead quiet at night you could hear it, but it is so low that a passing car or a lot of frogs chirping away drowns it out and makes for a nice evening by the pool. Just wish it had a bit more power max PSI that i could get this to push was 20PSI and that's with all jets off and it just trying to push water. But so far so good and running nicely. Worth the cost which is half of what the other "name brand" ones were going for.Wish there was a way to control the pump RPMs externally with a relay timer, but no deal breaker as this only requires power and can eliminate the timer box as it has its own timer control. To set the RPM's it relatively easy to do. once you have it all connected up, hit the ECO button and set the RPMs, the "clean" button which should be called normal mode, and set that the same way.Next is the clock time, and then what times you want eco mode to kick in, what time the normal mode to kick in and then you are done. Once set, you can forget.---- 1 Year Later ----After 1 year of service this is still going strong! It has been running for over a year now 24/7 and my pool has never been happier. In night mode where i have it set to just 1600rpm it filters enough to get all the small stuff out of the pool and the pool has been crystal clear all year long. There is one catch though, the filter does need to be cleaned a little bit more frequently though. I pull the pool filter out every two weeks or so. Just a quick wash down with a hose and filter goes back in. doing this does seem to prolong the filter life from what i have noticed and it really is whisper quiet. We had had friends over and they couldn't that the pool pump was so quiet as compared to theirs. I sent them a link to buy this one and they all have said the same thing, nice and quiet and pool is always clean and clear. Also as a bonus the electricity bill did go down quite a bit while using this pump. I have estimated i saved about 100 or more a month running this on a schedule in eco mode over the night time hours. Very happy and well worth it to replace the old power hungry pumps.---- 2 Year Update ----It is now been 2 years, and this pump is still going strong, and has not missed a beat at all. It still is super quiet and the scheduling I have set two years ago is still active and running the at the specified times. It does not however follow a DST time change but that is minor and one hour difference doesn't make a difference as the pump still runs as it should. Really an awesome and reliable pool pump.

Failed in less than 3 months
Pump was correctly installed and ran for a while, but failed 3 months and a few days (just out of return) while running on clean cycle. Alarm Code of "1" called customer service and they stated that the pump motor most likely failed due to the motor being ran during high 80 degree weather.........WHAT!!!????? Apparently, the motor cant run more than 6 hours during PEAK pool swimming time.....No parts relating to mechanical are sold for the unit, so I will have to simply throw out the pump(as well as the money spent on it) and buy another. I've learned by lesson here. If you still buy this pump, I hope you get a great one. I'm going with a more reliable one with a company that backs their product. Vendor honors 3 month warranty from time of purchase, not time of delivery. Just a gimmick as no one can use the product while still in the box....

Nice high efficiency pump
Pump included 2" pipe adapters (MPT- like NPT but without taper) that screws on outside of the pump nozzles). Unfortunately, was missing one of the sealing o-rings for the adapter AND the filter lid arrived cracked. I returned to Amazon without incident and received new one, which had all hardware and no broken items. I ended up returning the 2" pipe adapters that Amazon had said 'typically bought with' as these were unnecessary. I also updated my pool valving to higher-flow 2" vs 1.5" that were on my old pump. Some slow drips on the pipe adapter O-ring initially (maybe not enough O-lube, or possibly due to slight defect on pump flange surface due to molding process). Last install note: the electrical connection is via a cable gland and internal terminal strip that requires wire termination vs. just screwing down on wires.Pump is a lot quieter vs my old Pentair single-speed and will undoubtedly save electrical costs over time. The noise emitted sounds more like a fan vs a pump and is very quiet in ECO mode. Pretty quiet in Clean mode. The old Pentair 1HP pumped much faster than this pump on Cleaning mode, but I've adjusted the default RPM of the cleaning mode up, which helped with my pool cleaner efficiency. I have it running Mode1 which self-turns on/off at 2 sub-programs starting 6AM and 6PM. I have my externally-timed salt chlorinator on a mechanical timer. I'll probably adjust the Mode1 timing so it runs <14 hours, but for the whole daylight time & set my Cl timer to run a subset of that. I'll have to make sure power outages don't desynchronize the pump and chlorinator, but seems to work fine. I've had it installed only a week but think the pump is a good value vs more known pool brand pumps.

Great energy efficient VS pump for the price
Very happy with it. Much cheaper then the VS Pentair on our last pool. Most of the same features. Much less watts then the regular 1.5 hp Pump it replaced. Last pump was almost 700 watts at 110volts. This is showing about 200 watts on my power meter. Mine came with the 2” unions included. Had to buy cheap adapters from the local hardware store to reduce it to 1.5”. Installation was easy and straightforward. It’s 220 volts. So it’s three wires, two hots and a ground. It says 9.5 amps but it runs on much less. 9.5 is only is you choose to run it in boost mode. It comes pre programmed with two schedules. M1 is a 16 hour schedule. M2 is a 24 hour schedule. You can adjust these, but the instructions are challenging. Easier to just play with the pump and teach yourself, then use the instructions. One thing I can’t figure out is how to adjust the RPM in the M1 mode. I can change the times easily, and how many hours. M1 is 3 hours /2400 rpm then 5 hrs/1500rpm then 3/2400 then another 5 hrs at 1500 rpm for a total of 16 hours. You can change the times and number of hours. One last thing. I turned the screen around so it faces me. My pentair screen faced the house. Hated that. I took out the 4 screw and spun it around. Now I can read it easily and it’s not upside down. A simple energy efficient pump for a small to medium sized pool. Built in timer and self priming.
