It is not that difficult. Product worked beautifully.
A lot of people are discouraging others from doing this on their own. Don’t let someone else tell you you can’t do something because they aren’t capable. This product worked very well. I tested it before I installed it and watched the actuator rotate. Beautiful. Installation was smooth, probably fifteen minutes. To take the screw out just creep a ratchet over the back edge until it lands on the screw. It will take a little bit to get this down. See photo. For back screw reinstallation hold it with two fingers and very slowly creep it back over that back edge and into its slot. Make sure not to drop it. Excellent product. I love Dorman. Go get after it son.

Thank you Amazon & Dorman!
Purchased to replace a defunct actuator in a 2010 Ford Ranger. This is not an easy job unless you have very small hands! Only 3 screws hold the actuator in place. The back hold down screw is the hardest part to remove and replace. I had to bevel the leading edge of the actuator shaft as it did not want to fit into the opening in the air door(deducted 1 star). With all that said, the part works and we now have both hot and cold air and the thermostat knob on the heater/air climate control correctly adjusts the Air Door. Tools required were an 8mm wrench, 8mm socket on a 1/4" ratchet. There is lots of advice on the internet to help you accomplish this job. After losing 4 of the back screws trying to insert them back in the opening(only enough room for two fingers to hold the screw) I got the bright idea to tie a piece of light weight mono filament fishing line to the screw so I could retrieve it easily. This worked and I was able to complete the job.

Worked perfect for 2003 Expedition Rear Blend Door
If you have the Expedition EB version this was the correct one that fit my rear blend door (the lower of two motors) I order the one they said fit which came with a cross peg but it was possibly for the upper motor (floor/head motor) and not the bottom motor so I ordered this one even though the pictures did not show the peg and it turned out to be the correct one! This one has a D STYLE PEG.

Worked great, installed in a snap.
The dealer had charged me $420 to replace this actuator at about 50k miles. It went out again at about 115k miles. The Expidition has about 211k miles on it now. I have been listening to this thing tick, tick tick for about 100k miles. I would have done it before if I had know how easy it was to change. A couple fo Torx sockets and some plastic removal and bam! no more tick. The shaft has 1 rounded corner so you can install it any other way than correct, and an electrical socket connector that can only go one way.You can go on "Youtube" and there is usually a video of how to do it for your car. Did that also for cleaning a throttle body and replacing the plugs on a 2006 envoy. Saved me tons of money.

Works great
Getting the old one out is the hardest part. The back screw is ridiculous. When you get the old one out look at the orientation of the “D” stem and plug the new one in before installing. Turn your ignition key on (not start)Rotate the temperature knob to orient the new one the same. Unplug it and then install. Very easy installation and you just need the two front screws the back one is useless!!
