Fine and dandy for the price.
***UPDATE APRIL 13, 2018: Sometime around Christmas the monitor stopped working. All repairs cost more than half of the original purchase price. It did last about a few years or so.END UPDATE*** Think about how much you're spending on this record player. Think about how much you could spend on other records. Take all of that into consideration. This is not a spendy record player, but for what you are paying it's pretty darn nice. I didn't expect the speakers to be great, but they are just fine for listening to jazz records and some other types of Records, but not for all types of music. It does give you the option of adding other speakers. So, what you end up with is a good looking record player that plays records just fine and that you can add other speakers to. If you are an audiophile and you are very picky about how something sounds then I do not recommend this record player. But, if you're just looking something to listen to records on and enjoy in your home, then this will serve the purpose. At least it does for my wife and myself. You're not paying very much so don't expect that they should put awesome speakers in this system. If you are an audiophile and you get this record player, then I recommend getting some external speakers to hook up to it and I think that you will be happy with it.All in all, I'd say that this record player really ties the room together, makes most intolerable music styles pretty pretty fun to listen to, and I notice different things on my favorite albums that I've never noticed before, now that I listen to them on vinyl. Forgive me for calling it a record player. Some people call them turntables. If you prefer people call them turntables, then read this review again but replace record player with turntable (in your mind).

Just what I was looking for
I bought this record player for my fiance's birthday/Christmas gift and we couldn't be happier with it. It's got the vintage look that he wanted and the great value for the price that I was hoping to find. The sound is excellent; it plays a brand new record and an old one found at a local music store just fine. The radio comes in great as well, which is a plus since we need to turn that on while we build up our record collection! If you're looking for a basic vinyl player that works perfectly, looks great, and doesn't break the bank as a first record player, look no further!

New Records Skip…Not Worth the Money
Bought this as a birthday gift for a loved one. Looks great. Speakers are cheapish but okay if you don't want it to be too loud. We hooked it up to a small amp we already owned, so sound wasn't a concern. It plays old records fine, but after buying new records, I noticed that the records were skipping on the "outside" tracks (outer part of the album = first couple of songs) even though the records were factory sealed and brand new. At first we thought this was the fault of the records, and returned a few multiple times for replacements. Unfortunately, the problem persisted, so we started google searching the record player and have discovered that other people have had this problem as well. Apparently there is something wrong with the needle that prevents it from playing the new records properly. We bought several different albums new and have had the same problem, although the older albums play fine.I am very disappointed in this record player, because I chose it because of the high ratings and reasonable price, but it won't play new albums made in the past few years without skipping, which is a major problem. If looking for a good, solid record player, I would buy a different one that isn't so finicky. Who cares if it looks great if it doesn't play all of your albums correctly?

like my vintage player
Pros:It generally seems to work well and I can close the lid while playing records, so that my cat won't bother it. The analogue radio dial is smooth and stays well on the station. It comes with a cassette player, which I haven't yet tested. Hooked it up with Bluetooth for my surround sound system for a nicer sound. The power cord is a reasonable length (maybe a few feet).cons:The speakers sound a bit tinny. It has a reddish obviously veneer finish. The arm is not automatic, like my vintage player. It's made of flimsy plastic and I'll have to be careful with it. It's easy to drop it clumsily onto the middle of the record and create scratches (I haven't done that yet, thankfully!).

Basic, Simple & Satisfactory
I bought this record player because I was looking for something very simple that looked old or retro. We wanted only to sit and play records for our amusement and this has met our needs. Nice looking, bonus radio and simple on-off. It has ports to hook to a amplifier/receiver if you need to hook it into a stero system, (for bigger louder speakers) but the volume is ample for sitting in the same room and listening. Our house has an open floorplan so we can here it all throughout the main living areas. The radio plays louder than the records, not sure why. Some people may not be satisfied with the maximum volume level, its definately NOT blaring loud but adequate. If it went up one more notch (in volume) it would be perfect. I have played a variety of albums in all different conditions (good to bad) and it has not skipped even once.I am happy with my purchase and - ! It was just what I expected for the price range I was shopping in !

Very happy with this turntable!
I bought this record player as a gift to myself around a year ago and it has held up very nicely. It's not a record player that any die-hard vinyl fans would recommend, but if you're just looking to collect some old records and play them on occasion like I do then this product is perfect. The sound is very good and the record player is easy to use. It also has a built-in radio if you wanted to use it for that purpose as well. I think the volume is just fine. I keep mine in the dining room and I don't even have to turn it all the way up to hear it throughout my whole apartment. The product itself has a nice appearance and it's a lovely addition to any room. Definitely recommend.
