I was happy to pay what I did for what I expected ...
Purchased 2 Areca Palms from Emeritus Nursery, gorgeous! I received them today and repotted them as shown, in my photo you can see the 4 inch plastic grower pots they arrived in, one is set in the shipping box, and the other in front of my ceramic pot, the two plants were exceptionally well packaged with the 2 plastic pots staggered in the box and _so carefully and attractively wrapped in plastic and tissue paper_ that it would not matter how they were tossed about in shipping (nor which end was up for them) -- they were destined to arrive undamaged, very impressive!I am confident they were very healthy and well cared for before shipping because they spent the night overnight in my freezing Michigan mailbox (the one day I forget to get the mail!). There were ice crystals in the potting soil so I repotted them carefully without jostling the roots and let them set for a few hours before watering so I would not shock their roots with too much temperature change all at once. It was 3 degrees above zero this morning outside with my mailbox! we keep our home at about 68 degrees Fahrenheit. The photo shows my plants 6 hours after I opened the box and repotted them.I also included a dollar in my photo because an earlier purchaser/reviewer had also done that. Her plant was clearly much smaller upon arrival. The Areca Palms I recieved were at least a foot and a half tall above the soil line, the shipping box is 24 inches tall with a 6 x 6 inch footprint. I don't know for certain but I expect they raised their prices in order to ship larger plants. It is the end of November so I could not find these at any local nursery, I was happy to pay what I did for what I expected would be tiny plants -- these guys get 5 stars from me and all the time it took me to write this review because my plants look awesome only 6 hours after arriving, when I opened the box some fronds were bent and folded, but 6 hours later the plants have relaxed and look very happy to me! Thank you!

Healthy little plant
Mine came very promptly, ordered it on the 24th I believe and just received it this morning on the 28th. Leaves are green, but a little bent from the packaging. From the stem to the tip my little guy comes in at 7 inches, but again its bent down a little.Considering that none of my local nurseries had this particular plant in stock and all of the online purchases that I saw were in the high 40's this is a good buy. Take some time to grow this little guy but I'm patient.

Infested with spider mites!
This item looks healthy, however, upon further review, it is infested with spider mites! I can't see an option to contact the seller. I'm very disappointed as it is a lovely looking plant.

First time buyer and grower
I lost a few but the seller sends plenty in each plug of the palms. As a first time palm grower, I really appreciate the extra chances to make them successful baby plants. I discovered my issue, planted them too deep. Only cover the root, you leave the stem alone.

Bummer....
It just died over months - it's at the south side of the house in front to the sliding glass doors, and the awning limits light in spring summer and fall. So disappointed, the Snake plant in the exact same miracle grow soil and sand mixture, and three feet away is growing great. I had such high hopes.....

a small start
The plant was quite small, and with the shipping price added in, it was actually about the same price as one I found that was about five feet tall and sold at a national chain garden center. The detailed "Product Description" for this plant explains that it is sold in a 2.5" pot and is about 4" to 5" in height, which is an accurate description. The leaves on mine were all green, and the plant seems to be in very healthy condition. If you want to start very, very small, this seems like a good place to purchase the plant, but if you want the best deal for your money, you can probably find cheaper and bigger options at local garden stores. Many websites list the "Areca Palm" (Chrysalidocarpus lutescens) as the #1 "clean air plant" based on NASA studies. The plant is said to reduce toxins in the air such as xylene, benzene, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, and trichloroethylene.

Great buy!
Plant came in the mail, sat in the office of my apartment for 2-3 days before I picked it up and opened the package. It was green and healthy looking. It has been almost 5 months and the plant has grown significantly and is perfectly healthy. Great buy!
