This Stuff is Amazing!
So, I had a leg wound that was weeping--a tiny hole, but the thing just practically poured for 2 1/2 weeks. Went to the Urgent Care for help with it. "Wrap it and keep it dry." Seriously? Keep it dry? But I did my best, keeping it wrapped tightly . I was changing the dressing (dry washcloths) every couple of hours.Anyway, after a trip to the ER a week later also proved unhelpful, I looked on Amazon for *something* to help heal this blasted thing. I came across the Calcium Alginate wound dressing. It sounded like something they could use on the battlefield to stop bleeding/weeping. So I took a chance, and am I ever glad I did! The dressing is small (2 x 2) and feels dry to the touch. Put it directly and firmly on the wound and hold the dressing there for a few seconds so it can start absorbing. Then I slapped a regular piece of gauze over that and wrapped it.It did not weep or even leak out a little bit that night. Two days later I cautiously removed the dressings to check it, left it open for a few minutes to see. No leakage. But I was nervous about it coming open again, so I redressed it with clean stuff. Yesterday I took it off around noon, all was well, and so I left the dressings off for 24 hours, and it's still dry and healing. I can finally see a scab forming over the wound, whereas before using the dressing it couldn't stop running long enough for the skin to dry out and stitch.Probably TMI for most of you, but this Calcium Alginate is awesome, and the quickest healing medicine I'veever seen! I am wondering why the medical professionals I went to were/are not aware of this wonderful stuff?FIve stars, I have a couple dressings left over, and I will definitely use them in the future.
