I'm constantly having to work in the sun and heat. I've tried about a thousand different hats to protect myself from the heat and from sunburns. This is, by far, the best sun-hat I've ever had. Not only does it block out the sun almost completely, it also stops your head from getting that muggy sweaty-head feel. The holes are big enough and plentiful enough that air actually flows around your head, only the band makes contact. It feels like you are just in the shade.It's rigid, so it won't get folded and torn up easily. You can just throw it in your car and not worry about it. It's also adjustable, so I was able to get my adult size hat to fit on my 5 year-old.Admittedly it is somewhat lacking in the realm of looks, but for how effective it is, I'm fine looking a little goofy. I would love to see this technique (rigid, opaque mesh with an air-gap between the fitting and the brim ) used in a more stylish look.

For a hat made of straw, this one is remarkably sturdy. I have a large hat size (7 7:8) & have a hard time getting hats that fit well. This one does and is comfortable. The wide brim really shades your face, ears and neck and the open weave allows for great air circulation to keep you cooler on hot days. This is my new “go-to” hat for mowing and brush clearing.

Cute and authentic looking Pith helmet. Worth the cost for a nice quality helmet.
