Pleasantly pleased
Reel is smooth, no arbor wobble and drag works well. The reel looks very well built and no rough edges. Great purchase for the money.

Not a $200 reel, but...
Considering the price...killer product. Others have mentioned the main flaw. The space between reel an the reel cage will allow the line to slip or get jammed between them occasionally. Not often enough to rule this reel out. I fixed the problem by building up the reel case/frame with metal epoxy and shaping it to close the tolerance. No issues now.The drag settings are very course. Pretty much little drag or a lot of drag with slight adjustments. My opinion, drag is over rated on fly reels. If you can dial in a setting you like, you're good. And you can with this reel.Great starter reel or backup.Update: was contacted by customer service. They felt that the reel was defective + it has a 1 yr warranty. They sent me a replacement within a few weeks. It's a much better reel. The spacing between the spool and cage is much tighter. The spool fit on the bearing shaft, is quite a bit better. I've beat the hell out of the first one and it just keeps working. QC might not be as good as one might like, but when this reel is right...it's a pleasure to fish with. Hats off to customer service. I'd check with them before you post a review. They are very helpful.

Maxcatch Fly reel
For the prices seems it’ll work fine for fly fishing for trout. The line doesn’t appear to be the best.

You can spend more if you want but...
Very nice die cast aluminum 3/4 fly reel. Nothing fancy but it will do the job at a cost significantly less than a lot of reels and I fish for the enjoyment not for a gear brand name contest. I'm looking forward to pairing it with my Maxcatch transparent fiberglass 3/4 weight fly rod. I was originally looking at the various trout themed Eco reels but then I paused a second and thought about how those nice paint jobs would get scratched and marred in actual use and went, instead, for a classic old school silver.

Sizing
For the price it looks to be an adequate and fun reel with it's pattern designs. One thing, for a light or slow action rod it is way too big and heavy at least in the 3/4 weightsize. The example I was sent did not have any of the stamping edges or trim issues that othershave commented on and if not for the sizing and weight I would have kept it.

Nice reel for the money
Nice reel for the money. Seems well made and comparable to name brands that cost 3 to 4 times the amount. Drag seems good and adjusts easily. I am using it for warm water flyfishing, so drag not real important. The included fly line seems OK but will probably replace it with my usual brand. However, I would have had the line cost even if I had bought the name brand at 3 to 4 times the cost, so not losing anything. Very happy with purchase. Will just have to see how it holds up over the long haul, but if it only lasts half as long will still be ahead.

Almost perfect
I purchased this fly reel to do some flyfishing for panfish and small bass. Received the reel and was impressed at the quality of the materials for the price. Has a nice weight to it. The line that comes on the reel is good and does what I need. The drag system is OK but not great which is good cause it's for small fish. The main problem I have and why I can't give it a 5star rating is due to the fact that it literally reels itself in as you are making your false cast. And that becomes a problem when you strip off plenty of line to reach your target area or fish, and when youake the shoot, you fall short and loose the fish. Gonna try to reach out to the company for a fix. I will keep everyone posted.Update: shortly after this review, maxcatch reached out to me wanting to make the situation right. They sent a second reel out at no charge. Unfortunately, the new reel does the same thing straight out of the box. But, I will say that it is no where near as bad as the original. And because of how quickly they got back with me and offered to do what they can to make it right, I am changing my review rating to a 4 star. If there was a way to make it a 4.5 I would. I just can't give a 5 because to me, the product and company would have to be almost perfect. And yes, I do recommend this product as well as their flyrods.
