Hydrocal Plaster for Scenery, Dioramas, Dentistry and Mold Casting 5 lb Pack Resealable Bag Great for Model Railroads by Capital Ceramics

This hydrocal is cheaper and lasted a tad bit longer in the bowl before setting compared to the name brand product. This was used on my HO scale model train layout. I already had rock castings made so this was used to fill gaps and act as glue sticking those rock castings onto a mountain. Worked great!

Good price and product. Only bad thing was that it arrived with the box leaking white powder.

This stuff makes me feel like a pro. I made rock molds for my dioramas and I was casting rocks out of plaster of Paris. they were fine, but someone told me to try hydro cal​. It really is a world of difference. All details are crisp and edges do not crumble away as they do with PoP. I would not use this as a build up material, but I will only use this when casting detail pieces for my diorama.

I used this with rock molds thinking that I would get more out of it than from Woodward Scenics light weight Hydrocal. I was wrong. This makes fine rocks, but it is heavier and a little more messy to use. I ended up buying the Woodland Scenics light weight Hydrocal to finish my project so I used one very soon after the other so I readily saw the difference. The seller shipped fast and it arrived in perfect condition.

Worked good. Cast with alumilite amazing mold putty. The mold picked up the small details but the plaster didn't quite get into all of them. Seemed like the surface tension was really strong and that's why it didn't flow into the details around the lip of the mold (compare the teeth on the sculpey one to the cast one)

Served my purposes fairly well. Excellent strength for my casting purposes. You can order larger amounts from the company itself.It shipped pretty quickly, and I got it several days early. Quite happy with my purchase.

As someone who has absolutely no artistic ability or experience whatsoever, I found this to be pretty user-friendly.My advise would be to not panic and thing you need to rush. Do your casting right and do your best to prevent any darned air bubbles.

Great product and easy to use. It worked for all my train landscapes. It works perfect with the rock molds and makes sturdy rocks that can be glued or suspended for greater visual effects.
