Articulate, clear and bright without being harsh!
I have had this speaker for a few months now, so I thought of writing a review. I put it in my 5 watt Swart Amps 6V6se amp and it fits perfectly without any modifications. I think this is the perfect match for this amp. I have tried several other speakers on this amp, like the stock Weber Ceramic Signature 8, the Eminence hemp cone 820H, a St Louis Labs late 90s ribbed paper cone ceramic and a late 90s Marshall Celestion Goldback. All of those speakers that I mention are not bad sounding speakers, but for example the Eminence 820H was way to middy for this amp and made sound too muddy. I thought I was never going to find a perfect match for this amp, until I tried this reissued Jensen P8R! This speaker is perfect for my amp and the sound is just as perfectly described on the Jensen product web page. It says that the mids are ''subdued'' and that is true, the mids on this speaker are perfect for my amp, which is already thick on the mids, since it is a Tweed amp. The highs are clear and bright without being harsh, at least on my amp. The lows okay, they are not it's greatest quality, but then again I prefer a normal lows but much better quality. That is not to say that it lacks low frequency, I would say for an 8 inch speaker, it is adequate. All of the other speakers that I tried where either ''sterile'' like the late 90s Marchall Celestion Goldback or too dark and muddy. I am sure that there could be other great speakers out there that I have not tried, like the ceramic Jupiter 8SC and others, but honestly I feel like my search is over and also I wanted to try an Alnico speaker, since I have never had one. The is speaker has great clarity and definition, which is one of the most important characteristics for me. Other people on gear forums thought that a speaker swap like this, was not going to give me the clarity that I talk about, but it did. They thought I had to mod the amp, but I did not do that. The Eminence 820H is one of the loudest 8 inch speakers and makes your small cabinet sound bigger, but I tell you this Jensen P8R may not sound as big as that, but for some reason it does sound loud enough for me. Anyway is not like I am looking for such bigger sound, I like this amp for home use and good quality recordings and if needed it could be mic as well. I takes pedals really good too. This speaker has breathe new life to my amp I enjoy playing it so much now!

Sounds better than expected
Got a 65 Gibson rvt15 combo that had a 70s alnico cts speaker in it that did sound good. Changed to a Jensen p10r alnico and omg. A huge improvement in the highs and upper midrange and it’s not even broken in yet.

Change is good
Have a vintage 1965 Princeton barn find. The original speaker was missing so I tried vintage several alnico and ceramic speakers. Wasn't happy. So I bought new.Ultimately I used the C10R for years. Practice and gigging, it made my lap steel sound great.Haven't been a band for awhile so it's just me noodling in my practice room. Got a wild hair and decided to replace the C10R with the P10R.In my amp, it sounds a touch better and clearer than it's cousin. Nothing wrong with a C10R. But the slight difference has given me motivation to noodle more.

nice upgrade
installed easily, should be a very robust replacement for my Vibro Champ. Tone is great, but a bit different from the original Fender speaker, more lows and highs I'd say, so a fuller range speaker compare to the original.

Perfect upgrade for small practice amps
Great upgrade for any small practice amp. Brought my Champion 20 alive!

Very fine replacement for the '66 Champ
This speaker replaces the original in a '66 Fender Champ. The weakest spot in the old Fenders (especially the less expensive models) was the speaker. This fixes that quibble. It needs to be broken in for about 20 hours, and you can hear the improved sound. I hooked up my iPod to it, and let it play after I got home from work for about 5 evenings. The sound changed markedly for the better at the end of the break in. This is a very fine speaker for this application. Be CERTAIN to duplicate the ohm requirement. Some of the amps are 4, some are 8 ohms. Be alert.

Perfect for Fender Amps.
Put this 10" 4 ohm speaker in my '68 Vibro Champ Reissue. Made a great amp into an awesome tone monster! Sparkling, bell-like highs and a well pronounced bottom end that isn't too booming. When I strum a chord, I can hear all 6 strings clearly and equally. Bright, articulate and well-defined.Not my first choice for distortion, but that's not why I bought it (the Celestion Greenback in my Marshall handles all the dirty work nicely). If you're looking for that timeless Fender clean sound, look no further, this is speaker you need.

NICE
This speaker is not going to be for everyone out there, but it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. The low wattage of this speaker allows it to break up very early, and the fact that it is an alnico speaker means that it has a very smooth compression. This speaker loaded into a blues jr. allows the amp to be very "touch sensitive". Playing lightly gives you crystal clear chime, but as soon as you really start raking the strings things definitely break up. With this speaker you transform your standard blues jr. into a vintage sounding tweed machine. However, in doing so, you also lose out on a few things: With the decreased head room due to the low wattage of the speaker, you will not really be able to utilize any type of fuzz or overdrive pedal on the amp. It will just be too muddy. On the other hand, the rich harmonic overdrive that drips from this amp really takes the place of any overdrive pedal anyway. very happy with this purchase. The amp sounds wonderful with both my AVRI hotrod telecaster, and my AVRI 57 Stratocaster.
