SUNWAYFOTOAM-02 Arca Dovetail Mount for DDH-03 DDH-03i DDH-03N DDH-03Ni Sunway

I've owned the DDH-03 Fluid Panning Tripod Clamp for a couple years and recently decided to try my hand at panoramic stitching. The easiest route is to convert a ball head for panoramic use: level the tripod with the ball and use the DDH-03N for panning. I wanted a quick method of attaching and removing the DDH-03N from the head, hence my purchase of the SUNWAYFOTO AM-02 Arca Dovetail Mount.The AM-02 is basically an Arca compatible quick release plate that bolts to the underside of the DDH-03 series panning clamps via two 1/4" hex screws. Of course you can use a standard rectangular Arca plate instead, but the AM-02 matches the DDH-03N Fluid Panning Clamp perfectly in terms of size, shape and cosmetics, and is milled out for minimal weight. Plus, use of two screws instead of one insures the plate won't spin on the clamp even if not fully tightened.The other reviewer mentioned the AM-02 lacks safety-stop screws. Indeed, they are MIA. He came up with a smart workaround: substituting protruding round head mounting screws. My Acratech, Joby and Siuri clamps have a spring loaded "finger" topside to stop the plate from sliding out, so I'm happy with the AM-02 in its stock configuration.The AM-02 is a well made Arca compatible plate for the DDH-03 series of panning clamps: attaches securely, looks like an integral part of the clamp and fits perfectly in my Acratech, Joby and Siuri clamps.

This attaches to the bottom of Sunwayfoto's DDH-03 panning clamp, allowing you to turn the clamp into a panning adapter that you can use with any of your tripods instead of having to attach it to a single head. It is well machined and fits perfectly for its intended purpose.My only complaint is that it does not have safety stop screws (hence 4 instead of 5 stars). If your camera plate does, and if you use them, then using this plate with the DDH-03 clamp effectively defeats the camera's stops - the camera won't be able to slide out of the DDH-03, but the DDH-03 can slide out of the clamp it is attached to. I originally was going to drill and tap it for safety stops, but I was a bit worried that there was inadequate material to do that without affecting its integrity. In the end, I ended up finding oval head screws of appropriate length so that the head of the screw sticks down just a tiny bit and acts as a stop.

As expected. Well machined.
