J. Herbin 1670 Anniversary Inks - Gold Sheen 50 ml Bottled - Rouge Hematite (Dark Red Ink)

The media could not be loaded.  I have seen this product as a sort of Holy Grail within the fountain pen community. Everybody recommends it and says it’s a must-try. I didn’t know how right they were until I got my hands on this.J. Herbin 1670 Emerald of Chivor, or Émeraude de Chivor is a lovely dark teal with great sheen and gold shimmer. The shimmer is easily visible and the sheen can be spotted in pooling areas when writing print. It behaves well in my Kaweco Sport with a medium nib, and it hasn’t caused any clogging or issues yet, though I have heard others have experienced those issues with this ink. For reference, the paper shown is in a Leuchtterm 1917 notebook and it works very well with this ink!Overall, it’s a beautiful ink that I think everybody who uses ink should try at some point.Very much worth the price in my mind!

Fantastic ink with good sheen and a pleasant, well-behaved shimmer. Definitely one of my favorite inks, and the bottle is also very nice

I love brown and gray inks--dark enough to see, but far easier on the eye and more pleasurable to look at than black or blue. This ink is stunning. I have it paired with the Kaweco Supra brass, medium nib. It gushes. Just a suggestion, the shimmer settle back down to the bottom quickly. So, before filling your pen, rock the bottle upside down until you see all of the shimmer fall away toward the cap. Then leave the bottle upside down while you take your pen apart and get your converter ready--turning right side up only the moment before you are ready to fill. Also, while writing, rock your pen every now and then or the shimmer will also settle to the bottom of the converter. Happy writing!

This is my first foray into "sheening" ink, and I bought this pretty much just to play with. It's pretty interesting stuff all in all.Packaging is really nice! The bottle looks very cool on my desk. Filling from the bottle was fine but as it's a bit wide at the base I'm wondering about how I'll get the last 10mL or so into my pen. (Will be a while before that happens.)I know that the output from this ink depends highly on both nib type and paper. I'm using primarily a fude nib on a Rhodia pad, the latter of which may not be optimal, but I'm definitely able to see a lot of color variation, including some deep reds around the edges and in more saturated areas. The overall main color is a really beautiful green and the gold shimmer is there but subtle enough that I wouldn't be embarrassed to sign a document with this ink.Dry time is a bit longer than I'd like, which I believe is to be expected with these types of inks. One complaint is that I'm getting a decent amount of feathering. The fude nib can feed out a lot of ink, but even some of my finest lines look a bit blurrier around the edges than I'd expect. It's not awful, and I'm not seeing any bleeding through the back of the sheet, but it's still worth noting. At least with Rhodia paper it seems that one should not expect sharp edges with this ink.Finally, there is the question of whether I will buy another bottle when this one runs out, which is related to both experience and value. And the answer? At this point, a couple of days in, probably not. This was a rather expensive ink -- certainly not out of reach, but far pricier than many others in its category -- and while I'm sure I'll enjoy playing with it for the next several months, I'm already getting a bit annoyed by the feathering. I'm thoroughly intrigued by this category of ink and I want to try a number of options, so given that I'm not 100% enamored it seems unlikely that I'll come back to this one any time soon.All in all, absolutely no regrets about this purchase. This is a beautiful ink, and an interesting introduction to sheen. Definitely worth trying out if you don't mind the price.

I love everything about this ink. The bottle, the wax seal even the cap is nice. The ink is beautiful colour and the shimmer adds the extra touch.I will purchase again once I run out.

La tinta llego a tiempo y en excelente calidad y es muy buena tinta

Desde a primeira vez que tentei utilizar, essa tinta teve um comportamento desastroso, causando muitos vazamentos, pingando, e borrando todo o papel e a mão. Tenho dezenas de outras tintas J.Herbin que jamais falharam ou produziram resultados ruins, com sujeira ou borrando todas as páginas. NAO GOSTEI do resultado, da qualidade e cheguei até a pensar que esta tinta apresenta defeito de produção ou autenticidade duvidosa. Se fosse possível eu gostaria de devolver e receber meu dinheiro de volta.

The ink is of an excellent quality. It has a lovely shimmer and is easy to load into my fountain pens. Excellent quality that doesn’t fade

J Herbin beats all inks by a margin. Be it Diamine. Irushizoku, Lamy, Pelikan. Truly a great brand and best in buz. Bit pricey but the experience will justify it.
