Maxon 9-Series Overdrive

It's a tube screamer. You know it, you love it, or you don't. But it's a really good tube screamer that sounds nice and clean and comes with true bypass as well. I like this more than the current TS-9 or the TS808 reissue, which sound dirtier to me. You can run this with the drive set to 0 and get a nice clean boost as well. It reminds me of some boutique tube screamers but at a price that won't break your bank.I run this with my amp gain turned to the minimal possible setting to get some sound out of it, and the amp's clean volume turned up to where the amp is just about to break up. I turn my guitar volume down until I get a nice clean sound from that. Then I use the OD-9 for any distortion I want and to push the amp just a bit harder. The result is that soft playing sounds clean, and the harder I pick or strum it dirties up nicely, and I don't have to adjust anything, it just responds to my own dynamics. It's pretty sweet when it all works out!

We all know the "Tube Screamer" because of Ibanez and while Ibanez may have the brand recognition, Maxon is the real deal. Maxon created what we originally know as the "Tube Screamer". They created the OD-808, which Ibanez licensed and branded as theTS-808 "Tube Screamer" and this pedal, the OD-9, which Ibanez calls the TS-9. What is the difference? Quality! Maxon uses the same, premium quality components they've always used and Ibanez uses cheaper, lesser quality and often different components that can be obtained for less cost then utilizes a cheaper build prices with low quality LED Lights that are hard to tell if they are even on where Maxon's shine bright like the premium star they are. If you want the real deal, you want a Maxon. Buy this pedal and you will never regret it. Maxon pedals cost more but there is a reason for that. They are much higher quality.

The tube screamer is possibly the best OD pedal ever and the Maxon version is great. It has a great mid range tone and delivers great gain when added in front of a slightly distorted signal. This pedal rocks!

Absolutely one of the best overdrive pedals I have used. Blows away anything by Ibanez . Sounds fantastic going into my 65 Twin Reverb . First Maxon pedal I have owned and definitely won't be the last

Its a maxon, what more can you honestly say. It does everything it needs and does it good. There's a reason they have been around for ages. High quality pedal 10/10
