Dependable knife. Hell of a window punch.
Update 8-2022Still have and carry the original first response i bought. It still works great. Have had issues with it magically opening in my pocket. Must be the locking mechanism in the safety. But it rarely happens. I've read reviews about it breaking quickly or spring issues. Ive yet to run into that issue. Ive had the same one since July of 2019. I'm not nice to knife and it's been through moderate use. The blade serations are knicked, not laser sharp anymore. Had to sharpen the blade several times and its still sharp but not out of the box sharp. Window punch is still killer, have smashed several car windows with it on crashes. Pretty cool.S&W may have issues with quality control from the reviews. But it's 50 bones, if it works for you great. If it breaks go buy a Benchmade. I'd still recommend the knife.Solid knife. Have had it for 8 months. Since 7-2019 I originally purchased this knife because my previous one had a terrible window punch. Found out the hard way on an crash. First off the knife is quite sharp, I was able to shave the hair off of my arm with ease. Nice safety locking feature never had a problem with it. Blade has been solid, doesn't have any play in it. The window punch is probably the best part of the knife. Have used it since I've had it and it is awesome. If you crank the window punch to the furthest back position you can, it will blow an entire car window out. 10/10 would recommend. Just purchased another one in case the current one ever fails.

Great product
I’m not a fan of Smith & Wesson, but I bought both first responder knives one with the Tonto blade and the other one with the hook. I think both of these knives are great products they’ve done fairly well for what I need them for In the field, I’m in with LEO. Both knives are very sturdy and very sharp.

Another Winner
I’ve had Smith and Wesson knives for a while now. Going on 10 years. They never fail to make something of quality that stands up to the test of time. This is a very durable, heavy weight, all purpose knife. With some awesome additions for emergency situations. Great choice

Good features - glass breaker may not be strong enough
This is a nice solid knife. It feels heavy, not flimsy, the blade is loose enough to open or close with one hand but doesn't wobble, and the assisted opening works as advertised. The blade lock can easily get stuck in the unlocked position, but that usually is because the blade isn't all the way opened or closed. I took it apart to clean it and I looked at the lock mechanism - it's well designed but there are a few smaller parts that can easily break or end up in the wrong place, but the mechanism seems to work fine even a year later. The glass breaker does deliver a good amount of force, but if it doesn't work then you can "lock" the glass breaker tip in the deployed position and strike the window the same way you would with a traditional glass breaker hammer. When closed, the glass breaker is secure, it's not likely to accidentally come out in your pocket, and even if it does the spring isn't fully loaded so it's safe. Blade functions as a seatbelt cutter or can be used for clothes on a trauma patient - I prefer my trauma shears but if there's something unusually thick, you can carefully use this knife. All in all it's a good purchase. I definitely recommend this tool over the Smith & Wesson SWFRS knife, see my review there for my reasons.

Very sharp!
This is a great knife for first responders. I’ve used mine while teaching extrication training. The blade is extremely sharp and makes quick work of seatbelts. The blade is strong and works quick for peel and peek while removing interior trim. The spring loaded glass breaker drops safety glass straight down and out of the way of patient care. It is somewhat large for carrying around in civilian attire, but stores great in bunker gear pockets. I could do with the silly plastic gun barrel and sights as the really serve no purpose and the plastic is finished in a very smooth (read slick when wet) surface that is easy to drop. The knife would be much better If S&W would have skipped the gun trim” and added some stippling to improve the grip for first responders.

Great Knife!
Ordered it recently while on back-order but Amazon was able to get it to me faster. (1month instead of estimated 3 months) The blade is very sharp and become easier to open with use. I would suggest opening and closing it with the assist a few times with the first time being a manual open.Haven't had to use the window punch of the knife yet so I can't say too much about it other than the fact that both parts are very well made and sturdy. The knife is lightweight but not cheap feeling. My only problem with it is the the safety switch doesn't do anything on mine. I can still "magic assist"open the blade while the safety is on. Its not a big deal since the blade won't fly open. (Someone wrote a review that said it did and stabbed them in the leg which I think is a lie or they are the unluckiest S.O.B. on the planet)
