Holding up well
I've only used it for two weeks but I'm completely happy with it so far! I work from home and spend a lot of hours on it. I weigh 230 pounds and have a substantial office chair to boot, and this thing shows no signs of cracking or damage. Not even indents where the chair wheels contact it. This mat does slide a bit on my carpet, so I have to put it back into place now and again, but that doesn't really bother me.

Quite sturdy
I had to replace a supposed heavy duty mat that fell to pieces in a matter of days. The Amazon mat has exceeded expectations when it comes to its durability and sturdiness.

Perfect fit!
I live this chair mat. Working from home was new adventure. I purchased the mat to prevent tearing of the carpet fibers(medium shag). I had purchased new carpet in the upstairs floor where my office is located. It’s the perfect size for an average 12x12 bedroom change to office. I have an L-shaped desk in my office so the desk takes up some space and the chair mat works well and I can roll around and back without falling off the mat. You know that sensation when you feel like you are about to tumble—hate that feeling. Well you don’t get that with this one. It’s secure and easy to install!

Impressed
Initial impression was it looked nice, was very sturdy, and the chair rolled much better than the old one. I'm 215 pounds so I was a little concerned it wouldn't hold me but the wheels don't sink in. So far I'm really pleased with it. Arrived well packaged by being sandwiched between two pieces of flat cardboard with heavy duty staples holding the cardboard tight together. Perfect condition.

Works on low-pile
Works great on low-pile carpet (carpet tiles), but saying it works on medium-pile is reaching a bit. I mean, you can put it on medium-pile and it'll give you a much better surface to roll a desk chair around on (and you won't be leaving divots in the carpet any more), but the little pegs on the bottom aren't long enough to keep it from moving, and you can see the surface flex while rolling. Time will tell if the flexing is a problem.

Four Year Update
Well, I've had this for four years this August, and I figured I'd write a review to tell you how it has held up. The first three years it worked very well, but recently (probably at the 3.5 year mark) it started to crack where one of my chair wheels often sits. The cracking has gotten worse since that initial break. I've turned the mat around to get a little bit more life out of it, but it seems like about 3-4 years of constant use will crack this thing. I weigh roughly 150 pounds and sit at the computer for working/writing no more than about 3-6 hours most days, and some days not at all. Mileage may vary, of course. I don't know how long this type of thing is *supposed* to last. Maybe four years is good? But it's worth noting.

Ships flat NOT rolled up. That's a good thing.
Seems much more durable than the previous one. Better suited for deeper pile carpet, doesn't flex.. So far so good.

not bad for the price, but there are things to know (UPDATED)
After decades of PVC mats, I decided to try a polycarb one. One week in, these are my thoughts, for those thinking of making the same leap. I picked this AmazonBasics because it has similar thickness to namebrands and was much cheaper.Good:* This *small* mat ships flat. Comments about shipping rolled up apply only to the larger size, probably because that one exceeds the maximum dimensions allowed by shipping companies.* Very light, maybe half the weight of the PVC it replaced.* Stays in place on the sort of carpet popular in the mid-1990s. Has not slipped at all.* Slightly clearer than the old PVC, but on beige carpet I barely notice the difference (see photo).* The plastic doesn't seem dent under the casters, but note it's not exactly rigid. If I stand (200lbs) on one foot, the nearest edge pops up. So far it's not a problem, but...* No scent. Polycarbonate also avoids the (unhealthy) plasticizers & softeners PVC mats use. This is IDEAL if you're a home user that goes barefoot. No nasty chemicals rubbing into your feet for hours daily.* Edge isn't "neatly" finished but also isn't sharp like others describe.* Texture is fine. It's not slippery, but the (Leap) chair still rolls easier than it did on PVC.Could be better:* A little thicker so it doesn't warp as easily under heavy users? That popped up edge could be dangerous if somebody walks by while your weigth is elevating the edge.* Sand/round those edges? Seems like it would be easy in the factory.* Offer a tongue that's rounded rather than squared? The square tongue makes no sense to me (which is why I got the rectangular toungeless version).* Makes a little bit of a coarse/draggy sound when rolling across the texture.Other thoughts:* Really would prefer these products were made of recycled materials.Since I use this chairmat 6-12 hours a day every day, I'm definitely putting it through its paces. I'll update this review if something changes, but for the moment it is Recommended.--UPDATE May 2021: 6 weeks in, still solid. No dents or cracks from daily use. I did notice it wanders SLIGHTLY on my medium-pile 1990s carpet. Like 1-2 inches a week. Not enough to bother me since I'll adjust it to vaccum the room every couple of weeks anyway.

Good Value
I bought this for my home office set up. I have been using this for close to 2 years now. It does what its supposed to do, provide a smooth surface for the wheels on your office style chair. Wonderful product.

Solved a Problem
We have a home office in a room with low pile flooring. The previous chair mat was too soft and the wheels of each of our chairs sunk into the mat, so it was difficult to move around. These new ones are about the same thickness but appear to be harder, so the chairs wheel around smoothly.

Durable, but careful of sharp edges
Polycarbone mats ship flat because these are quite durable and don't bend/roll. These are much better than PVC mats. The mat does move around the carpet (med pile) as the spikes aren't that tall. I would expect it to move less on a low-pile carpet. The edges are sharp - be careful, I can easily envision people injuring themselves (ie cuts) on their feet. I used a file and rounded out the edges. It took a while and there was quite a lot of dust/shavings. But well worth the effort as I bought 3 of these. On my med-high pile carpet, the chair does not create indentations.I highly recommend this chair mat.

Excellent Product
I ordered this mat to protect my carpet floor from damage from my Computer chair. Product took quite a while to get delivered (almost 3 weeks). But it did arrive. The mat was not rolled which made it easier to unpack and place. The material is quite sturdy. I have used it for almost 2 weeks now. The carpet below is undamaged. Since I work from home, I am on my computer chair for close to 10 hours per day. So, even with heavy usage, the mat holds up. The edges are a tad too sharp. But it is not a problem for me as I do not have any pets or kids. The product is expensive and they did take their sweet time to deliver it. But it is really worth it.
