Starcaster Rocks
I've always wanted a hollow body guitar and when I randomly searched online for them, I found out that Squier made one that had basically the neck of my Fender Blacktop Stratocaster! I was excited because the strat is so easy to play. I watched hours of footage on the guitar, because buying one over the internet and not feeling it out in the store is difficult, and after a substantial amount of honest reviews online I made the purchase. Almost got the Affinity model, but got the Classic one instead because of recommendations in videos. This guitar sounds good, it looks beautiful and I will be loving the entire experience of learning every little thing about it for many years to come. I also have zero faith in FedEx, and they even pulled through to get the order to me on a Sunday, EARLY. Can't say enough positive things about my experience purchasing this or playing it. It's a fantastic instrument at a great price.

Right out of the box!
What a beautiful instrument! I got the three-color sunburst. It arrived surprisingly well packed with a minimum of non-recyclable foam stuff and cardboard spacers to keep everything from shifting around. I tuned it up and it plays beautifully, Frets are great. No buzzers. Finish is smooth and glossy. Even the intonation was surprisingly close to perfect.I love it already!

Dead on arrival: Update after replacement
Update 5.14.22.I returned the first guitar, and had it replaced. The replacement was as nicely finished and set up - good intonation, no fret sprout, no buzzing frets - as the original, but with fully functioning electronics. No dead spots or volume drops in either pickup. Fit and finish were ok, after dressing some of the inner surfaces of the f slots with some 000 Emory cloth to remove plastic burrs on the binding. The pickups are good, good enough that I'm going to re pot and cap the thing and see how it shines. For the price? It's amazing. Just be aware that purchasing from another vendor that actually tests instruments prior to shipping may save some time and frustration.4/5 stars, just for QC issues. If you get a ringer (as I think I have with the second one), it's an amazing instrument. And for ~$450? Inconceivable.Original review:At the price point? I'm amazed. I'm a long term WRH fan from way back, and love my vintage 72 Tele Thinline (not reissue). This guitar gets close to that clear and transparent tone that is missing from a lot of paf style humbuckers. It's a beautiful looking and playing piece of dead wood. Electronics don't work at all. I requested a replacement, and will update this review after it has arrived. I really wanted to like this guitar, based on reviews of others and the heritage of this product. My local guitar shop said that they could probably fix it for another $250. That's more than half of the price of the new instrument. And it's just not worth it.

Fun guitar!
Pleasantly surprised by this guitar! Love the feel, tone, and look. Very affordable and sounds great. Never been much on Fender/Squier guitars but the twin humbuckers and the neck on this one had me buying one almost immediately. Very versatile soundwise. A lot lighter than my other guitars, sustain is great, and only feeds back when I want it to. If I didn't already buy one I would definitely have one on my list. $400? A value at twice the price

Lovely guitar, shipped quickly
Guitar itself is exactly as I’d hoped, I watched plenty of YouTube reviews before buying. Color / appearance of guitar is beautiful. Shipper was great, everything received on time.

Major Quality Issues
I loved the look, feel and sound of this guitar but I most likely happened to get a lemon and another lemon as a replacement.I am okay with taking a $200 guitar to a luthier to fix the bridge, nut, high frets, or whatever problems it may come with. The ones I received had buzzing, cosmetic issues and bad switch.Classic Vibe is supposed to be a high-end Squire and the quality was truly disappointing.

Great quality and craftsmanship for the price!
Squier continues to prove they make the best quality budget guitars. I already owned a Squier Strat and a Squier Telecaster, but I was looking to get something with a different tone and feel and I was leaning towards the Epiphone Les Paul or 335. After checking out those and some other guitars in the same price point, I was amazed at how inferior the quality was on other brands compared to the Fender Squiers I owned. The frets were not nearly as smooth (Ibanez and Jackson guitars in the $300-$400 range actually scratched my hands!) the pickups were cheaper quality and in most cases only the face of the body had a poly finish and the satin finish on the neck was poor. For the same price, the craftsmanship on the Squier is equal to what some other brands charge $1000 for. I wont say that this necessarily sounds superior than the 335 or some of the cheaper Gretsch hollow body guitars, but it does have a deeper tone and great sustain compared to my other guitars, so blues & rockabilly riffs and classic rock grooves sound great and are fun to play. If I had to nit-pick, I'd say the wood grain is really hard to see because the walnut stain is so dark, so it looks more like a burgundy paint but it's still a handsome instrument for the price.

I wanted to love it
The guitar was great. I loved the natural finish and the glossy maple fretboard. Right before the return window closed I checked everything one more time and found the sound was cutting out in the middle position. I have read some reviews about these guitars and electrical problems. I am not handy with a soldering gun and I didn't want to pay to get it fixed.....no way. I sent it back. I ended up buying a different guitar model altogether from Sweetwater. We shall see. BTW I purchased on Amazon a Squier Affinity Jazzmaster just a few weeks ago. I have had no troubles with it and it sounds great. I need to write a full review soon.
